There anything in the way of Pentium M motherboards?

I have some extra DDR, Pentium M 1300, hard drive, etc. and was wanting to put together a carputer. But can't seem to find any Pentium M motherboards.

I know they were Centrino platform but were xATX form factor boards never really made?

Abit made at least one microATX motherboard that took Socket 479 processors. Asus produced an adapter that allowed (some) Pentium Ms to be used with a handful of Asus Socket 478 motherboards. Supply is probably pretty limited these days, as these were never mainstream products.

Besides being overpriced and not mainstream, the other problem is that the whole reason for using a mobile chip was the leaky Prescott CPUs. The current Core CPUs are based on the mobile chips so there's much less interest in using a mobile chip outside of a notebook.

A cheap way to do a carputer is to use a budget setup like this $70 board/CPU.

That's really neat, thanks for pointing that out.

Do you happen to know offhand if it supports booting off of a USB memory stick? I found a guide on the internet for modding an XP install CD to allow booting off of a USB memory stick. Would be ideal for a carputer setup.

I have no idea regarding the USB memory stick. I don't actually have one of these things. Sorry.

Look for a Gigabyte Pentium M. There were Pentium M Motherboards made. Some were made for smaller motherobards similar to Mini-ITX. I think Titan also had a Pentium M Motherobard.

A company called Commell made some Mini-ITX Pentium M Motherboards. It will be hard to find fast high quality Pentium M feature rich motherboards.

A-OPEN and some other companies made Pentium M Bare Bones Systems.
