Could I go into Best Buy and buy a $10000 TV with pennies if I had it all?

What I'm getting at is if there is a federal law that states business must accept any kind of currency... Anyone have any links to something on this or know if its true?

Theoretically yes. But they can refuse to serve you for any justified reason. And your carrying 1000000 pennies around is a pretty good reason.

They could have you arrested for trespassing if you refused to take your wheelbarrow full of pennies and head back to the trailer park. Warn your "friend" about this before it's too late.

i rem that time when a guy was arrested for paying with $2 dollar bills and had to be handcuffed to a pole in front of everyone just so someone from d.c. come down to check if they were legit. even the cops couldnt tell.

Thats what I was asking, sorry I misphrased that. I was asking if they had to accept it as legal tender.

Yep, they could claim they are unable to verify the amount of coin you have and would request you bring the pennies to a bank at your cost to have it converted into real currency.

There was an incident at my local Walmart (a copycat of something that happened elsewhere I believe) where a clerk accepted fake currency with Dubya's face on the front.
