Just prepping myself somewhat for a build coming up.

This is a rough idea of what I am looking to do. Any thoughts on my parts/cost

I am expecting to have to run around 2k cost for a new machine in the next 1-1.5 years. I know that things will fastly change in that time but still like I said this is basically prep work.

For a PC on that sort of a high end budget, the CPU, GPU, motherboard and SSD are all excellent.

That RAM is simply put overpriced. 2x8GB is preferable to 4x4GB, and costs less too. 2133MHz RAM provides no noticeable benefit, apart from bench results, compared to 1600MHz RAM, but it's fine if you're not paying more than about $10 extra per 8GB and the RAM is still 1.5V rather than 1.65V (although 1.65V would work fine too, but it's a matter of paying for quality).

That PSU is overpriced at $130, there are a lot better alternatives. Since the G45 is SLI compatible, I'd get a PSU that is also SLI compatible for two 780's, and that implies a 850W unit, possibly 750W if overclocking is not a priority.

On this budget, I'd get an aftermarket CPU cooler right away.

There's no point in planning a PC build that far out. Even though the pace of change has slowed, 12-18 mos. is a long time in the tech world.

I know it is but sometimes it is just fun to play around. It also keeps the skills honed on what to look for in the future.

I would rather build theoretical dreams and keep myself fairly up to date every once in awhile then let 5 years go bye and not have a clue.

Im actually going to build for Arkham Knight and The Division so I am waiting for confirmed specs for division.

You don't need to have your own personal thread to keep up to date on building tech.
This forum has a butt-load of "Help me build" threads running all the time.
You can actually learn a great deal simply by "reading" threads that have already been created.
Your comprehension skills will aid you in applying that information to your own situation.

For the most part it's a fair build. Lehtv is correct on the RAM, 4x4GB isn't a very good choice, nor is the 2133MHz.

The biggest thing with forecasting a build like that, is the major components... the components that matter will change by the time you get there (CPU, mobo, GPU,) although it's likely the replacement for that component will substitute nicely.
