That's a very good question.

I'm not sure why, but the Balloon Boy and his moron of a father reminded me of the documentary movie Surfwise. Strange story of an offbeat doctor and his wife and nine kids living out of a camper and living the surfing life.

The remarkable thing was how normal all the kids turned out as adults. Or, more accurately, how badly they all wanted to live a more normal, grounded life than they had known growing up. By the time they were adults, most of them were estranged from the old man, who they all saw as a kook.

The funny thing is that from my understanding, that is EXACTLY what the loser dad has tried -- he has pitched several reality TV shows over the past several years (even before the balloon boy incident) and gets rejected every time.

He's not going to get a reality show. The reason The Kardasian show is so popular is because the family is ultra rich. They are fun to watch I guess. Who the hell wants to watch low income people? I see them everyday in real life.
