I am building a P4 system and am going to replace the stock fan with the Themaltake P4 Volcano 478, has anyone had experiance of this heatsink and fan?

Should work fine. If you want something to keep it cooler, check out Thermaltakes higher-end h/s fans.

The Thermaltake is cheap and cools effectively. See the review at VR-Zone. The design is not as refined mechanically and somewhat noisier compared to others, but you cannot beat its $8 plus shipping price. (Check Pricewatch for price.)

If price is no objection, here is a high end alternative at Cooler Star. The Thermoengine ARKUA 8568 with a copper core. It should give you another couple degrees improvement over the Thermaltake, at a huge price increase.

AkumaBao, I don't think that Thermaltake makes any higher-end h/s fans for the P4.

Thanks thermite88 for the link, makes a good read. I will stick with the Thermaltake for now and invest in a couple of good case fans. I dont intend to overclock in the short term until I am sure the system is stable and I have a base temp that I can use for when I overclock.
