the zeus 128MB from Gclen at $85 is bad

I got mine yesterday,I tried it but It can not run very well with CAS=2 @100Mhz, It can not even pass the 3D mark 2000.my kingston 128pc-100 runs very well .
Now I am questioning ,is it a pc-133? can it really run @133Mhz?
caus I dont have that kind of Cpu,anyone tell me?

I bought both the 64 and 128 MB sticks and all of them run at 112 cas 2. That's as far asa any cpu's I have will go. Specs are for 133 at cas3. Keep your reciept for the Lifetime warranty in case it won't work later at 133.

pricewatch lists Zues 133 128mb modules at $75! is this memory good enough for your average user? I don't know what practical difference "good" ram vs. "cheap" ram -- they do the same thing, right??

Astonia: The difference is in the timing (cas) speed of the ram. Better ram runs at cas2 while cheaper ram runs at cas3(about 2-3% slower). As long as the sticks you get work at 133+ cas3 it's a good deal. The 50% price increase for cas 2 memory won't make much difference in your system but it will in your wallet.

Tiejiba: Generally memory doesn't react to the amount of time it runs because it doesn't build heat like transisters do. Those heatsinks you see on the video cards are there only to look pretty. If the crash is time related I would look at the cpu heatsink first. Most 366s will run at the 112 bus if properly cooled. Try setting the cas to 3 to see if it's stable there and if so try it in someone elses system to see if it will run at 133-3. If not send it back for another.

ElectricLegs:
I am kidding that I use celeron 366 , actually ,I use cerelonII 533 @800 @1.5V, It runs very well, I use HWdoctor to detect the temp of the CPU,it is low ,about 30C.
And It is none of the bussiness of the memory stick.I have tried today ,use the Video card onboard, Intel 815 ,it is I752, I run it at CAS2 @100Mhz, it pass all the test and I think there is no peoblem.
The problem is my video card, normally I use a Asus v6800, when I use it , my system can never run stable at 100mhz @CAS2,
any idea of this ?

What did tiejiba say?!

Is the memory good or isn't it?? I need to know. I don't have a 133 system yet but bought this ram assuming that it will work at its posted specs. If I buy a 133 mhz bus chip in the future and find out this ram isn't going to cut it, I am going to be one mad flot. Can someone who has gotten it shed some light on this issue???

I bought some of this generic Zeus PC133 and it is CAS 3, not CAS 2. Since my system is a Celeron system running at 100MHz bus speed, I was able to set the CAS to 2 and it worked. At 133, you will probably need to set for 3.

Well, I just used Sandra to identify one of the two sticks my dad bought.. the crap is pc100, rated cas3 @ 100. This is a BAD deal.

the ram is suck.

i had to tweak the bios to get it to do pc-133 3,3,3.

must have all the drive strength to "STRONG" on the a7v or it would be unstable.

🙁

Got mine last week, wouldn't run Win2k more than 10 minutes without crashing, even at lowest settings (3-3-3, 100 Mhz). Corrupted my un-backed-up user profile. :| It's on the way back and good riddance.

My stick was labeled "LD," BTW.

I was about to order one stick of those, but after I heard all those bad stuff about it. I guess I won't order it now. I'll just stick with my 3x128MB Kingston Value Memory.

While I'm sure it runs fine at 109, this is *supposed* to be pc133. The fact is that's it's pc100. The guys at Zeus can remark the chips but the info is still stored on the SPD. This deal is still bad.

And how exactly do you find out what info is in the SPD? I'm annoyed, it is running fine for me at 112, but not any faster. But I can't guarantee that my chip will go faster, don't have any true 133 mhz bus systems around here to test it on....

Go here and download the trial version of Sandra. The info should be located under Mainboard Information.

Sandra doesn't appear to support the i815 chipset fully yet, that's why I id'd it on my via board, but the CUSL2, at least, shows the rated speed in the bios.
