I think that it was either that guy who got a bullet in the eye at the end, or he had someone do it.

The mobster that was shot at the end killed Doggets son.

From the conversation in the bar right before the AD shoots the mobster.

Harvey, the other suspect, had kidnapped him(Doggetts son) because he had a fetish for young boys. The mobster walked in on Harvey and Doggetts son and Doggetts son saw his face so the mobster had him killed or killed him himself.

This show should have ended two seasons ago if they can't produce anything better than this crap for the series send off. I bet the final episode will consist of an hour long extreme close-up of Chris Carter pointing and laughing into the camera.

What I don't understand is, what did this episode have to do with the overall plot/theme/secrets of X-Files?

How does this episode go one step further in revealing the secrets? In the trailer for this episode, they talked about how something important will be revealed to us... I didn't see that happening?

How many episodes are left anyway?

It was implied that the mobster did it himself. Remember when they said that though a different knife was used the angle of entry and force indicated that the same man that killed the women killed Doggett's son.

I think this episode was just to wrap up one of the loose ends of who killed Doggetts son. It wasn't one of the main story lines but was important to Doggett's character.

I think there are only two more episodes left.

Two episodes left, and next weak is a Brady Bunch spoof of all things, so I'm not sure that should count. And last week they were tauting that show as the return of Mulder. I think Carter gets off on pissing off his audience as much as George Lucas.

The assistant director killed Dogget's son. The mobster hinted at what happened with his story of the hypothetical business man who accidentally walked in on the person who took Luke. Luke saw the assistant director associated with the mob and he assistant director, who still was a police in New York taking bribes, had to kill Luke to cover his tracks. Dogget realized this and the assistant director killed the mobster so that he could not tell Dogget the truth. The cadet was right that the mobster was connected, but the mobster did not kill Luke. Seems like my conclusion is the only one that doesnt pin point the mobster as the murderer of Luke...

Brady bunch spoof? How can they do that out of a X-Files's episode?

I only caught the last half of the show, but A.D. Elwes (whatever his name is in the show) asked the mobster emphatically if he had anything to do with Dogget's son's death, so I don't think your theory works.

We'll all find out next week, not that I am looking forward to it.

hmmm, I thought for sure that someone would have figured it out. This episode was a real let down. I would be playing the best stuff I could instead of waiting until the very last episode.

1.) Some child molester who liked boys took his son, he was the one associated with the mob. This person was the one who died outside of today's episode and was mentioned in today's episode how he died. I forgot the cause of his death but he died in some accident. He was already a suspect, but he was already dead prior to this episode. The person did not moleste the child, he just grabbed him.

2.) The mob dude(business man) killed his son to cover things up. The child was present when both the guy who grabbed him and the mobster was there. Wrong place wrong time.

3.) The assistant director killed the mob dude out of guilt cause it was eating him up inside.

I think tonights episode was good. The Bert Renold episode was also pretty cool. The next episode will not have anything to do with the alien story line, but it looks good because it's another clownish episode. The final episode will be two hours long I think. Don't expect them to expose any big plot because the alien plot so far has been fairly thin so don't expect too much surprises. One episode is enough time to tie it all togather because there really is not that much to tie.

I'm guessing the final episode will be about exposing the 1/2 aliens who works within the government controlling everything. They will be taken down thus making the future safe for mankind.

I wouldn't expect too much in the series finale as well. It will probably just tie up most of the loose ends.

If they explained everything, then how could they make another X-Files movie :)

Ditto...there's no way the A.D. did it. The mob guy did it or had it done.

Yeah, it's been in the news that Chris Carter has backed off from his earlier statements about tying up all the loose ends. My guess is he's backed off because there will be another X Files movie and because he really doesn't care.
