The Worst Parts Of Being In Los Angles County Jail

In 2018 I was arrested for threatening to shoot up the police station that refused to arrest my abusive parents. I was in LA county jail for 5 months before being transferred to a house arrest program.

In LA jail they NEVER turn off the lights even at sleep time, I think its because they want to know what you're doing in your cell.

They don't give you a pillow.

The mattresses is very thin and on top of a metal bottom and is very uncomfortable.

There is no sun light ANYWHERE!

The air vents are EXTREMELY loud!

At first I was in General Population where you can walk around and watch TV and take a shower whenever you want, but the medical staff noticed I had scars on my shoulder from biting it out of anger and put me in Suicide Prevention which is WAAAAY worst then General Population!

In Suicide Prevention they only let you out of your cell a couple hours a day and they don't let you out at all on the weekends. When you can come out you have to be chained up to the tables and you only shower Mondays/Wednesday/Fridays.

When your in the cells you cant see or hear the TV but at least once a week they escort you to the library and you can pick out some books to read.

The food there wasn't terrible but it was repetitive, usually peanut-butter and jelly for breakfast and baloney sandwich for lunch and dinner would be different things like burritos or rice and beans and such.

I never got into a fight while in jail but I have seen other guys fighting.

Now I'm in a house arrest program called Victory Starts Now, you can watch a video about it below. Its a pretty good program but your not allowed to drink alcohol or use Marijuana even though its legal, all we can do is smoke cigarettes.

Whats funny is when I first came to this program I was starving for both darkness and sunlight AT THE SAME TIME! And I was sleeping for like 13 hours a day for almost a month to make up for all the insomnia in jail.

I'll be out of this program in a little over a year.

What are you planning on doing once you're done with the program, Gizmo?

I want a degree in Computer Engineering so I can work with GPUs.

I also want to join a Wrestling Team, Bakersfield University is the closest that has a wrestling team so I plan on going there. I also want to compete in the 2028 LA Olympics for Freestyle Wrestling.

Yeah county sucks but it ain't bad compared to the alternative. It's cool you were able to get out and get into a place like this.
Don't mean to get to personal but whats your diagnosis and assessment looking like?

Jail is one of my worst fears. Honestly I would try everything to just kill myself if I was sent there. Unless it was like under a year then I would try to tough it out but I'm a small guy and probably would barely survive in there anyway and always be in pain from the beatings, rape etc not to mention the depression of just being confined. What pisses me off is it seems people that should actually be in jail don't end up there, like that Afluenza kid, or those people on Youtube that sucker punch random people for fun. (lot of the victims get life altering damage from that). But they won't hesitate to give insane sentences to people who are not actually out to harm others. Like Aaron swartz or Kai the Hitchiker. Like 40+ year sentences, it's insane. It's one of those things where it can happen to anyone, just being at the wrong place at the wrong time and playing your cards wrong. Bam, next thing you know you're going in jail.

The state isn’t there to protect the people outside of it, but itself first and foremost. A proficient hacker with also a political trail is a threat to the secrecy of the state. That’s why they were loading it up on Swartz. Plus, he got stuck in federal court, and those guys wanted their pound of flesh. Nevertheless, Swartz was a coward and fool for killing himself.

The matter of Kai falls on the hands of the jury. Whatever he did prior, the jury was persuaded that he murdered that attorney. So it was not a single arbiter determining his fate. They reasoned that his story did not hold.

Do note the attorney and president that were piling it on Swartz were Democrats.

Yeah that's the issue the system is corrupt as all hell. Well the government as a whole really. It does not care about the people at all, only about itself. I guess it's not any different than a corporation. Corporations do not care about customers or employees only itself and the share holders. Same with government, they only care about themselves and the "share holders" which happen to be corporations.

I don't blame Swartz for killing himself. If I knew I was about to face 45 years in jail I'd do it while it's easy. Though I would perhaps just try to disapear instead of straight out kill myself. Maybe make it look like I did, like leave a suicide note that I jumped in the river, but actually just go hide out in the bush somewhere. Not really easy to survive like that without time to have a plan though...

Maximum sentencing is to scare the naive and those who are raised to act in good faith. Those in the know also know it’s just emotional babble. The folks in the know are ironically lawyers, cops, and the experienced rule-breaker criminal. I have no reverence or love for cops or lawyers but I have experienced those criminals who just came out of jail and they really are pieces of shit, cooking up sob stories and having a far deeper understanding that there’s a lot they can get away with.

The plea deal was apparently six or four months but he would be a convicted felon.

The choice was there and he very well could have serenaded Trump for a commutation or full pardon had he chose to live.

I didn't really explain my time in jail in that thread.
So you couldn't update the other one and had to start a new thread? Again, all these post about your drama is just attention grabbing. IF any of it's true, find a therapist.
