Yeah, to me music is like women from different ethnic groups, body types, styles, etc. May not want to listen to it all the time, but there is always something I like.

I dunno, maybe when I was younger I would limit myself to certain genres, but now I dont care. In my collection I have everything from classical and bossa nova to Indian and Middle Eastern inspired music, and everything in between. Strangely enough, I think the sampling in Hip Hop opened me up other types of music that I wouldnt have normally heard. Once you make the leap from Tribe Called Quest to Bob Dylan, everything is fair game.

Heavy metal? Their main vocalist is a little annoying, but I don't think they're that bad on the whole. I am partial to metal in general, though.

In certain circles, sure. As a fraction of all the people you know, how many people do you know that regularly listen to classical? Lindsey Stirling and Apocalyptica don't count.

Percussionist myself, I started playing in the 4th grade, even though I do not these days.

Many frown on those but we had guys in out music program back in the 80's in Madison Scouts, Phantom Regiment, and a one that was the Captain at the time went to Boston Symphony at Tanglewood over the summer, it was a pretty serious music program even though I went in the Marines after then became a Journeyman Tool & Diemaker.

I still played with bands later messing about even after for awhile, my old Tama Superstar Cherrywines 7 Piece set just sits in my Florida room and gives me dirty looks these days, forgive me Neil Peart.

I thought the OP said CCR and I was very confused as to how anyone could label Creedence the worst music of all time. Then I figured out what CCM meant and found myself nodding in agreement. LOL...I'll explain. Music is the interaction of harmony, melody, and rhythm. Rap is almost all rhythm. Try to hum a rap song...can you do it?

Therefore, strictly speaking, rap is incomplete music. It's missing the other components. The beatnik genre from the 50s falls into the same category. Both genres would be better classified as "rhythmic poetry".
