Jeez funny, but not 400 dollars funny.

Well then you could hack your own.

Schmatics:
Once you have the finished product you may want to breeze over the operating manual. Then consider updating the firmware to version 5.

Personaly I would love to have one of these sitting in my Car. Nothing would be cooler than sitting at a red light while dialing on a rotary phone.

Christmas time is near and nothing says I love you like sweating over a homemade gift. Prehaps you could build one from a kit and save $$$.

DUDE if you rerout wiring from a rotary to a Cellphone its much cheaper

But it'll probably get complicated when for the dialing numbers part

That would actually be kind of sweet but having to unscrew the base to attatch the charger... Come on. They obviously went to a bit of work on this thing and that's how they design the charging system? Try thinking guys.

that would be cool. kind of expensive though. and they could have designed the battery charger better. especially for 400 bucks.

Or you could just simply wire it in to your cars electrical system.

I miss that ring sound too and it sure beats the snot out of any modern pre-recorded ring tone from "Whose-yo-rap-daddy-beeotch"

Sparkfun sells good stuff. If their previous products are an indication, it likely functions very well.

EDIT:

I think that the module that makes the thing tick is only about $200, tops. Wiring in your own phone would only require a bit of work with a microcontroller.

Cheesehead, read the previous how to make your own post in this thread. I provided a complete list of parts and prices. And yes you are correct, the logic board costs $199.
