The world would be better if we were all smokers

Well, at least the ones who chose to smoke, and the others didn't bitch about it 24/7. I'd like to say that I smoke, so I may be biased, but I also take the role of the non-smoker now and then.

1. All restaurants would have designated smoking sections, ACTUALLY separated from the non-smoking sections. (I understand what it's like to be a non-smoker in a restaurant)

2. Smokers wouldn't hear about how we're killing ourselves 24/7. (Don't think we already know?)

3. Stop all this citywide, or countywide smoking ban crap. If I own a bar/restaurant, I should be able to say what goes on inside (to an extent, but smoking is in my jurisdiction). Especially since 80% of people who go to bars either smoke, or don't really care about smoke.

4. (Speaking as a non-smoker) Why fight it? Let all the moron smokers die earlier - the rest of us smart guys will live longer, since the dumb guys died; we'll be more powerful. Or do you feel that compelled to be a savior of morons?

Well, I'm gonna go have a smoke, I'll be back to defent myself against the replies. (but there souldn't be any)

much larger taxes due to health care/medicare costs for the people that don't die imediately(cuz most don't people typically go on for a while spending ass loads of tax payer dollars to add an extra 6 months to their life while making it even worse due to such things as kemo(sp))

agreed. what's wrong with it?

<< much larger taxes due to health care/medicare costs for the people that don't die imediately >>

true, i didn't mention the liability crap. I work for a company that works for a company that's paying out the wazoo for this crap. (should have mentioned this before.) One guy sued this company for his lung cancer, which he claims he got from the products they make. He got $2.5 million because he installed this product for 10 years. Oh, by the way, he's been a pack-a-day smoker since he was 13 years old. Sorry that I forgot to mention that we smokers need to take the blame of our actions on ourselves instead of blaming others for it. Regardless of how long you've smoked, i think we should know by now what happens. I guess it all just goes back the the american motto "it's not my fault, he/she/they/those guys did it to me!"

um no your not understanding im not talking about a health food psycho will live to be 72 and you'll die at 70 with lots of health problems
im saying average joe blow will live to be 72 with some health problems but not as many as a smoker who would die about 2-5 years earlier

smoking does not make you more carefree than everyone else....

I could care less about you throwing away your own life, because you sir, are the "stupid" ones that you refere to in your post. The thing that I do care about is the little bit of second hand smoke that I have in me because some jackass couldn't give a care about who he's endangering with his smoke. People who smoke right near the entrances of places just piss me off, it's utterly stupid. Because then when you walk in/out you're inhaling smoke too.

Why did you start smoking anyways, to look cool? Oh yeah, I'm cool, I'm going to die 5 years before the average american does, because I threw my life and money away to look cool. You can't win this arguement simply what you're doing is wrong and you simply can not make this wrong into a right.

I brought this up because of all the anti-smoking posts tonight. In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?". I look forward to a day in which smokers and non-smokers can live in harmony.

NON-SMOKERS - quit policing the smokers - let them kill themsleves quitely.

SMOKERS - quit being butt-holes (pun intended) and be a bit respectfull (quit blaming your problems on non-smokers, it's your fault).

Non-smokers smell smoke and freak out about it. The they say crap about it and smokers go nuts about that. This is a Politically-correct world in which no one really wants to be PC, and we need to quit being a bunch of assholes about it.

See, now there's the problem. Smokers don't realize who they affect and if they realize it, they don't care. Their smoke gets into areas where non-smokers don't want them. When I eat outside at a restuarant at a beach, I want to smell the fresh air, not inhaling smoke from some guy lighting up.

I have no problems with people who smoke, but when someone who smokes affects my area meaning my 2X2 area square I stand in, it would bother me because that person is disturbing my air space. It can be argued that smokers are entitled to their own space too, BUT unfortuantely, no offense, you guys don't walk around smoking in an encased bubble. Now if they came up with an invention like that...then the world would definitely be better.

I totally agree with that - that's why some restaurants have seperated smoking sections. If they truely valued your business, they'd do that. I think they should, other than drawing an invisible line in the middle and saying, "smokeing on that side, non-smoking on that side". But on the other hand, I don't think that city and county wide smoking bans are the answer.

I happen to live in a town where smoking in all public buildings has been outlawed. It is very nice to go into a restrurant and not have to sit down wind of someones stinking cigerett.

I do feel sorry for the bar owners, their business has been hurt.

I think that smokers should forfit any access to insurance or health care. Since it is your choise to committ slow suicide then you should be permitted to die without the life extending aids of the medical profession. You get lung cancer, cough yourself to death, just don't expect me to pay for your hospital bills.

I believe I have a right to complain and voice my opinion. For if someone kills another person, should everyone else just go along with their every day business? That's what you're implying, we have a right to complain, we have a right to breathe in fresh air, not fresh air + some moron's cigarette smoke.
I'm glad I live in California where it's illegal to smoke in resteraunts and most public places, but when I go back to Ohio to visit relatives, I may be in the non-smoking section, but the air and my food smells like ashtrays, so thanks to all the morons who can't smoke outside rather than just to smoke inside and ruin dinner for everyone else.
And you say that let you guys die quietly, here's a gun, why not go shoot yourself and save yourself the time and money.

I totally agree here, I'm sick of smokers expecting non-smokers to pay for their hospital bills, it's just stupid. You smoke, you pay for it.

Exactly! SAY SOMETING to the management! I used to work in a restauarant, and I can't recall one incident of people complaining about smokers that resaulted in more than a laugh! If you say someting, the owners will do someting about it, like actually putting a barrier between the smoking and non-smoking sections. They want to keep you as customers, and they WILL LISTEN. Just don't act like pricks when you do it - don't go off on how smoking is a disgusting habbit and stuff like that - say I DIDN'T ENJOY EATING IN ALL THAT SMOKE. Believe me - they will listen to you since they see you as money walking out the door.

In many countries its forbidden to smoke in any public buildings.

I feel sorry for people with asthma who get breathing problems due to some a$$holes who had to smoke a cigarette right in front of them.

I feel sorry for people with asthma who get breathing problems, due to some a$$holes who had to smoke a cigarette right in front of them, and couldn't say that they had asthma. If you have asthma, say somehing. I've yet to see any situation where this was actually applicable. It's a common argument, but I have several friends who have asthma, and most go out to bars more than I do. None of them smoke, they don't like smelling it, but it doesn't bother them medically. I can remember going to a restaurant last week, and before I even got a puff out of a cigarette that I was lighting, I was asked by some rich snob bitch to "please move away from the clean air breathers", or something like that. We were OUTSIDE btw. I didn't say anything and moved away so the rich police didn't come arrest me, since I think that's what she was looking for.
