The World Trade Center

I just can't imagine the magnitude and height of those buildings at all.
I work on lower manhattan and every time i walk up to broadway i just can't even put those two buildings in place. The Deutsche building seems tall as hell, but WTC was about double of that.

I've seen all the pictures and i watched as both of the towers came down... but honestly I can't graps the magnitude of all those building, even after seeing the setting. Anyone feel the same?

Yeah.

I remember my neck hurting because they were just so high🙁

I can't even imagine what it must have been like being 1 block away at the Burgerking when it all came down🙁

They were big (and I saw them in person/was on the roof of one in 99). If you really want a comparison for scale, your closest bet would be the empire state building (x2), or even better the Sears Tower (x2). Frankly, I still think that Chicago's skyline is the best in the world (Big John and the Sears tower, along with all of the other goodies).

I never got to see them in person. So you can grasp the magnitude better than I can.

Ditto

same : never had a chance to be in NY prior to 2001. Heck i still haven't been in NYC, just too expensive to go out east for no reason.

I saw the WTC towers but never got a chance to be in them. I have been to the Sears tower in Chicago and looking down from the top people look smaller than ants... it is truly a spectacular thing to be that high up.

I hate the terrorists who think that tearing down a couple buildings is gonna make us rollover and give in to whatever nonsense they hope they can force on us.

I went to NY for the yr 2000 times sqr celebration. I haven't been inside, but I saw them from bottom to top. I was on the street looking straight up. PHOK. Two biulding shooting straight up like that, it was an incredible site.

I want them to rebiuld the two biuldings as they were.

I can't even imagine it. When I was in NYC I looked over towards that direction from atop the Empire State Building and to think that they were even taller than that is just... awesome. I don't usually get too impressed by buildings, but man, to build something that big that high is pretty impressive engineering and construction.

been up the WTC plenty times, do it in bad weather, what an experience. you don't appreciate it until you've lost it.

🙁

they should rebuild the exact replica, but i also like the new designs.

I think they should rebuild the towers exactly as they were.
Except with better reinforcements in the structure 😉

hmmm maybe some Anti Air armament would help to...just in case😀

I was nine blocks away from the trade towers when it fell. I had to run from all the debris falling over my school. So yeah, I guess I can 'grasp' the magnitude of it.

I was on the roof of the WTC the Thursday beofre they fell (9/11 was a Tues. IIRC). I watched them fall from across the river (Brooklyn).

A friend of mine was supposed to tour them that morning, but forgot to set her alarm clock. About the time she woke up was when the first one fell....

I've been on the top of the WTC on a clear day and it was truly an amazing view. Even NJ looked nice from that view. 😉

I've also stood at the very bottom and looked straight up it. Now, granted, I was much younger when I did both of the above, but I loved it.

Ya, I was there about a week before they got smashed.

Those buildings really were stupendously huge. One of those things that you couldnt get used to. Never been inside them, but looking up at them from the bottom, it was pretty hard to fathom how god damn tall they were.

the tower was never designed to take the impact of today's modern jets - but it did. it was the heat from the flames that caused structural deformation. better fireproofing could've saved the towers
