The world is coming to an end? Or pure genius?

No, its not supposed to be whimsical and imaginative like a fairy tale. The book was far, far darker than the original movie depicted (which the author was none too happy about), and I'm looking forward to the new release.

i read the book many a times, and have the original movie, but personally, with the first movie, willy wonka had a soft, kindness(along with the bizarreness and bewilderment) to the charature which made gene wilder so great. i willl give you that the book and original movie were weird, but that, from the trailer, it just really freaked me out, and i think Johnnie Depp is a great actor. i just personally feel that its almost too creepy for kids. something about it, and Depps teeth freak me out.

It looks like it captured the essence perfectly. I always saw Willy Wonka as a bit creepy and spooky.
I think it's going to be a great movie. Pure genius I say.

i am hoping it will too, but i am just hesitant to see it as there is a point that it gets too weird

Well, with Tim Burton directing you ought to get your wish. I think the fact that TB is the director will have a far greater impact on the film than the fact the Depp is playing Wonka.
