wow! these things actually work. so i had to replace my wife's laptop's hard drive and used the manufacturer provided recovery discs to reinstall vista. after decrapifying and installing useful software, i was wondering how to install covertly install linux on the thing. and sure enough there's ntfsresize and fdisk there to non-destructively shrink the vista partition. hehe, now she has linux on her computer...

It was nice using gparted within the Ubuntu installer to put Ubuntu on my laptop. Ubuntu Intrepid is my primary OS with XP being secondary (only for the few instances I need Office and when I want to edit photos with Lightroom; maybe a few games).

What distro did you install and why a "covert" install? I was probably going to try OpenSuse 11.1 over break on my laptop. Ubuntu isn't so good when it comes to batterylife (compared with XP) :(.
