Remember the Gift Certificates to THE WIZ for test driving a toyota from last year? Since the liquidator said in an article that they will be acquiring THE WIZ assets, liabilities , etc. I'm assuming they will still honor these GCs....any thoughts otherwise? Thanks....

hahaha NOOoooOOooooo ..

Ok, who's in central NJ? THE WIZ FLAGSHIP on route 22 union represent

I wonder what they could possibly put in that building

The flagship in the center of route 22, NJ is cool... and unfortunately if you want electronics, the people in the route 22 BB are total assholes. Might be further away if you want electronics, but I've found that the Bridgewater Best Buy has MUCH nicer workers there. i.e. - you can return stuff without a hassle (including game strategy guides/books). Getting suggestions from the employees is also painless.

About 5 or 6 years ago the Wiz started opening stores in Massachusetts.
They had a lease at my local, at the time, mall and held up the space for months while
they did nothing. I am sure that cost them a great deal of money.
They had already opened another huge store in another town.
I went in once curious about them, but wasn't impressed.
After about 6 months of leasing that space plus others and having a few stores opened they announced
they were leaving New England, closing all their stores and buying out all the leases they had already
signed for unused space.
3 months later 2 of their competitors went out of business. They had sited too much competetion as
one reason for leaving the area.

That had to be one of the hugest blunders in that stores history. It must have cost them millions upon millions
of dollars to sign all these leases, open a few stores, close all these stores and finally break all the leases.

I am surprised they lasted this long after that level of stupidity.

Cablevison cannot operate in a competitive marketplace. The company and its stock price flourished when they had cable monopolies. Once satellite TV became convienient and affordable, they branched out into businesses they felt would compliment their cable business. They have no clue how to compete in a marketplace and consumers always come last with them.

They got into the cellular business and lost their shirts.

They bought a bunch of crappy Clearview movie theaters, and lost their shirts. I don't know how the movie businees compliments the cable business.

They bought Madison Square Garden and have managed to destroy the Knicks & Rangers and have alienated the fans in the process. Somehow despite all this, MSG is still profitable thanks to the prior ownership who put MSG on the right track. The potential for future profits remain to be seen.

Then they bought The Wiz with the notion that it would somehow be a showplace for their cable and cable modem services. Someone forgot to tell Cablevision that many of the Wiz locations are in areas service by Time Warner Cable, Comcast, and others. The stores were actually going have to turn a profit and compete in a marketplace where Best Buy and Circuit City can out-market them and undercut them on price. I almost forgot to mention their staff of GED certificate toting idiots.

Finally, Cablevision have been running anti-satellite TV propganda commercials on the radio here in NYC while they are quietly trying to launch their own satellite service and/or bidding on DirecTV. Typical Cablevsion BS.

Good riddance to the Wiz, I hope the entire Cablevision empire comes crumbling next.

WORDEMUP, HOMIE. :D
Fscking Cablevision is the reason I missed a jillion Yanks games last year.
Fscking Cablevision is why I pay the most money for the least channels, and why I can't get Time Warner around where I live.
Fscking Cablevision ruined the Knicks and Rangers.

I'm glad they're gonna fall off soon.

Most places use a different company for warranty coverage. I know if Best Buy went under youd still be covered since its a diff company that actually covers the warranty... check the warranty.
