I played the demo of The Witcher, and I friggin' love it. I know that they released a "cut-down" version in the U.S., so I want to get the original one, uncensored. 'Cuz I'm against censorship, or something...

Is there a place to download the game? I love using Steam and if I had my way all games would be download-able. Is there a reliable way to get the uncensored version of the Witcher via-download?

Thanks

P.S. If you haven't played the demo check it out...

I'm just wondering but does it have horror elements? Sounds like it would I always love these types of game however as with oblivion and the general rpg type of play, I just can't stand horror in video games lol. Creepy monsters and traps in dungeons etc. Makes me not want to play.

Ah, that helps. Can you get it at the official website?

Even if I do get the US version, any suggestions as to where to get it from if I want to get it online? I've never done that, besides Steam games of course. Direct to Drive?

Um, I didn't really think it was that scary, but if Oblivion freaks you out it might not be a safe bet. I mean, it definitely leans toward the Diablo side of the RPG scale, as opposed to Final Fantasy or something :D

So I did some more research on that mod... I guess I can get the US version from Atari and patch it so it's uncut, but will everything be in Polish?! Has anyone tried this?

I played the demo and I didn't think anything was wrong with the dialogue, but I just hate thinking I'm playing a dumbed-down version of the real thing...

It was mainly the language and models that were sanitized. You could purchase the UK edition from GoGamer.com, they still sell it.

You could also buy the US edition and patch it with the uncensored content, however, that does mean you'd be forfeiting any support for the game. Either is going to piss of Jack Thompson. :p

Patching shouldn't effect the language unless you use a polish language patch.

IIRC, the gore was reduced as well.

Yeah, I actually went ahead and got the game, and modded it. It's now in Polish, lol. The script is supposedly different, and some of the voice acting is better, but not all. Also, the finishing moves are much cooler (read: really violent), but I don't know why they would take that out for the U.S., I've seen worse in a M-rated game...

BTW, the game is awesome!

Are there english subtitles for the dialogue? I'd like to get this mod but itd be kinda pointless if it removed the story.

Yeah, there are subtitles, otherwise it would be kinda pointless...

Also, you can install the mod but keep the original English, so only the violence/nudity/cutscenes are changed back to the original uncut version.
