The Witcher - Atari Download Safe?

As a last minute gift idea I was thinking of asking for The Witcher. I usually buy my games from Amazon.com as I still like having physical media delivered to me. However, Amazon doesn't sell the Enhanced Edition.

I looked around and saw that Atari sells the digital download of the Enhanced Edition (Director's Cut) for 50% off right now. That seems like a screaming deal to me!

I just have to know, what is the DRM like when downloading a game from Atari? Also, is it an easy process? Steam and Impulse have the same download but for $40, so Atari is the obvious choice if their system works and won't wreck havoc on my computer!

I really don't see your point. Gogamer has The Witcher for $50. Atari has the download for $15. That is night and day.

I'm not asking "where are places to buy The Witcher Enhanced Edition: Director's Cut". I'm asking if buying a digital download directly from Atari is a good idea and if they pack it full of annoying DRM.

I've seen that I can upgrade from Enhanced Edition to Director's Cut, but I haven't heard of a way to upgrade from vanilla to EE, let alone DC. Is that possible?

If so, I believe Amazon.com sells the vanilla version directly (I try not to buy from the 3rd party vendors, if I can help it).

I've been under the impression that you can patch vanilla to EE for free and patch EE to DC for free as well. I could be wrong.

Is directors cut the same as the European version of the Enhanced Edition? (Which is what I have)

I have never bought anything directly from Atari, so I don't know about their DRM. I believe that the Witcher EE doens't have any native DRM if I remember correctly however.

ITPaladin, sorry for the confusion. I guess I was trying to imply that if the price was right I would be ok with without a physical game disc. Saving $35 by buying from Atari is enough that I don't need the disc, but I still want to know that Atari's downloads work.

Martimus, yes, the Director's Cut is the same as the European (unrated) version.

Well steam has it on sale now for something like $14 dollars; I trust steam >>>> over atari.

Atari is fine...but for $13.59 it would be easier to get the Steam version. Downside is you can't sell it later if you wanted to.
