Ok so i read something about "The Witcher" having issues with CF or dual cards in general. I think someone stated that the game performs better with one card disabled. Basically it seems jittery or random frame losses especialy in towns. I am running the latest 1.2 patch and the digital download version of the game.

Anyone know a way to have The Witcher run smoother with CF or is this an issue everyone has with this setup and I need to wait for further patching of the game or newer ati driver revisions?

I believe AT did a look a The Witcher with 3870s, the X2 and regular CF cards, and The Witcher liked the 3870s.

yeah it is only with the witcher. I get over 17500 3dmark 06 default score so I have a screaming fast system. Crysis plays well (for crysis), cod4 plays really well, ect.

I kind of remember reading somewhere that someone else said that 2 cards was worse with the witcher than 1 right now? I lowered my af to 12X and aa to 2x and it seemed a tad better in towns but I think at 720p res I should be able to max out all settings right?

hmmmm. I wonder if it has anythign to do with the patching i did. The website said not to use the patch for 1.2 with the digital dl version of the game which I have and I used the patch anyway. I think things may have been smoother before i patched it. I also added my second hd3870 around then too so its hard to tell what screwed things up. I am pretty damn smooth in the game everywhere except towns. I pretty much have a super computer so I think 1366X768 should allow all settings maxed!

Well if you can, it might be worth uninstalling the game and avoiding the 1.2 patch for the digital distribution and see if anything improves. Other than that I assume you are running the latest Catalyst 8.3's, make sure Catalyst AI is set to 'advanced'.

I need to try again as it crashed fairly early in the game but wasn't a big fan of crossfire in this game. Had a problem with trasparent textures in the first area, along with glassy floor textures. Read up on it and heard it was a problem with aa and ati cards. Turned off aa and sure enough the issues were gone. Seems a little weird to me.
