That was recently posted by CDPR, so it should be from the latest build.

Yep. Looking at the textures you can see there is lots of fine details however they are the same textures as earlier. Which to me is suggesting they simplified or changed the textures for the worse on the PC so that lower quality textures would not look as bad because of the lack of fine details or crap.

Or, it could be that running on high settings isn't showing the maximum texture detail...which is the most likely scenario from my perspective.

People are often too willing to believe the worst, rather than the most logical..

No I meant they changed the texture designing so that the game would look nicer with low resolution textures on the consoles. Basically what I am getting at is like what modders for the ES games say that textures can often look good close up but terrible at 10 feet or 50 feet and also the reverse.

I don't know about that. Supposedly the consoles have noticeably worse textures than the PC version on high, let alone very high or ultra..

BTW here's a cool video of IGN showing some gameplay of Geralt fighting some monsters

Just by looking at the video, you can tell that CDPR really has nailed not only Geralt's evasive movements this time, but the monsters seem to fight pretty damn smart and will not hesitate to gang upon you without mercy..

So basically, the combat in this game looks a leap above the "rolly polly" combat of the Witcher 2. 😀

"We worked so damn hard over the past three years to bring you this game," CD Projekt Red boss Adam Badowski said in a statement. “From the corrupt nobles in Novigrad to ancient monsters lurking in deep forests, to the bustling cities, colorful ports and breathtaking vistas; all the people, all the places--we literally spent tens of thousands of hours to turn all that into an adventure that will kick your ass and make you want to come for more."

Alright so I pre-ordered it on GoG.com, I just want to support that dev studio all the way, they're awesome in my book. And, on a side note, the last game I pre-ordered was DA:I (preceded by Diablo 3, and ME3). I have watched the recent video series about The Witcher 3 on GameSpot and I think that I haven't felt that confident (and hyped) about a game before its release since a long time. I guess that I can only describe it as a "guaranteed quality purchase" (I honestly feel like it will be the case).

I also pre-ordered from GOG.com, as I usually pre-order nothing this is a big step for me, I love this developer !

Ha, recognized his voice in the gameplay trailer and now they uploaded a mini interview with Charles Dance:

There was some controversy about this trailer, a 1080p/60fps video on the official xbox channel, now they added the PC footage disclaimer. Don't know what kind of settings were used nor do I really care, 1358 can't get here soon enough. The side quest in the trailer isn't revolutionary but has more weight to it than typical fetch quests in similar titles:

I've purchased mine, now waiting with bated breath. I'm going to be really pissed off if I can't play it because they make a balls of the mouse input again.

Not sure how I feel about them advertising/selling expansions for it when the damned game isn't even out yet. They were doing so well with the free DLC and all, but this kind of sours it a bit.

I don't really care, if skyrim was any indication, expansions are not a big deal. By time you get done with game, and mess with it the expansions be so cheap anyways.

I'm really hoping I can get into this game. I'm normally a FPS guy, but Skyrim sucked me in completely, and this game looks perhaps as engrossing. I am worried about the lack of first person - I think that's what made Skyrim accessible, at least initially, to people like me.

I think I'll wait until the GTX980ti or 390X is out before giving this game a spin.

Not if you haven't played the first 2. No matter what CD Projekt chucks in via infodumps, if you don't have a clue about Ciri, the Wild Hunt, Nilfgaard, racial tension in the world and the events of the Witcher 2 (moreso than 1) then you likely won't be immersed in the world. That said, even if you did you still wouldn't have much of a clue as most of Ciri's backstory is in the books most of which are only fan translations.

I wonder how the devs have shoehorned all that into the game. Hmmm.

Was watching GameSpot's 3 part overview of the game yesterday. One neat detail I noticed was when using the 'stun' sign in a swamp the water has a shockwave pattern across it. Just a little detail I saw and went...ok, that's a nice attention to detail.

Also for anyone wanting to see the game look quite nice watch some of those videos, the GameSpot player seemed to do a decent enough job (better than most YouTube) of showing it not overly compressed.

Any indications if the pc interface will be decent ? I though 1 was fine but 2 was a bit off (talking about pc interface only).

Not yet. I've been trying to to find out about that, too. The game was worth it, but that was a bit of a let-down. Hopefully, like Crysis 1v2v3, they learned their lesson, but I think we're going to have to wait a bit to truly find out.

TBH, if they allowed the game to be sufficiently moddable, I wouldn't mind if we could get something like SkyUI or DUI, as long as combat on the PC (IE, keyboard+mouse) is good in stock form.
