It is nearly a year off and they are unveiling the Collector's Edition?
Always be leery when a company over hypes a video game, is often because they know that is the only way it will sell.

Not from this developer IMO.

No. Their established track record will provide more than enough sales. You obviously don't know what you're talking about with this game.

Heh...this is just a very honest developer in the past. They haven't hidden behind anything or attempted to pull the wool over your eyes. They have earned the benefit of the doubt.

Track record of one game with unplayably poor controls and boring story and one game which presumably made those... marginally better?

:awe:

I get that people are "rooting" for CDPR, but they've released one good game (so I hear) and one crap game (speaking from experience) lol.

One good game and one great game. Feel free to be wrong.

Eh...you really think the devs of witcher are the same as blizzard?

Last time I checked CDPR didn't announce a real money auction house.

I don't know. But that is the thing isn't it? We keep handing them the lube and then wondering why they always screw us. No more.

You back the wrong developers then IMO. With blizzard we knew they were monetizing Diablo 3 before it released, yet people bought it anyway. They have fixed many of the complaints at this point though. This is not the same thing at all. There is nothing but good out of CDPR about witcher 3. Nothing that sounds sketchy.

By then, was it still the "blizzard" that people would back? Or was it activision-blizzard? To me, there is no more blizzard.

I think you'll find in you're very tiny minority wiht those opinions, but here's the bottom line: CDP didn't hide anything about TW1 or TW2, they didn't include a slew of shoddy DRM, they didn't shovel lazy DLC packs at the players, they fixed most bugs and released the Enhanced Editions for free. These are the reasons why people are frothing at the mouth over Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.

The only real negative you can sort of level at TW3 is that CDP is making it for the anemically weak Xbox One. Thats going to hold them back from reaching the full potential of the REDEngine.

Even then they deliberately chose not to include the 360/PS3 generation because it compromised their vision, despite a larger market to drive sales unlike some developers.

boring story

Not enough 'ancient evil returns that only you can defeat' for you huh?

In defense of witcher 1 I'm sure most people disliked it because they didn't get around to playing it until it was out for years which made it seem very dated.

I know I didn't play it until witcher 2 had been out for a long time. Tried to play one and it just felt really old. Played witcher 2 instead and that was a great game.

Uh, no. They've released two great games.

There was nothing "unplayable" about the Witcher's control. Sure, combat was shallow and was basically just timed clicks + using the right weapon for the job, but there was nothing unplayable about it. It was just uninspired, and the worst part of the game. However the game as a whole was still great. The 'boring story' as you call it is, in my opinion, the best story I've seen in a video game in the last 10 years, maybe more.

The Witcher 2 improved a lot on the combat and graphics, but I thought the story slipped from great to just good. Still overall a great game though.

Witcher 3 development has leaked onto the internet. Apparently information on the various endings has also leaked. I'd avoid most everything Witcher 3 related to avoid spoilers.

http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/28rq2p/witcher_3_design_documents_have_been_leaked_set/

Nothing spoiler wise in that link at time.of this posting. Just some images of characters and monsters. Still avoid the comment section.

Pretty unfortunate. Nine months is a long stretch to avoid spoilers.

They also said the map leaked showing 64km square of land to explore. That is almost 40miles of area in the game world and they said that was only one area you will have access to. The game is going to be huge.
