The Witcher 3 Confirmed

Bunk. Both games were developed for the 360 and its ~8yr old graphics hardware. Screen shots I've seen are very very similar. Witcher 2 brings modern hardware to its knees and actually delivers on the visuals too, unlike the CoD sequels that see system requirements jump 20% and look the same.

Edit -

With the decline of Bioware, is CDProject now the top RPG developer?

decline? are you smoking the good stuff today?

BW is shining like the sun right now.. TOR is a masterpiece of an RPG..

and ME3 is on the way..

BW messed up 1 game.. DA2.. and it was still a damn fun game.. and a great RPG.

Nice, although 2014 is still over 2 years away. The Witcher 2 was one of the best RPGs I have ever played.

The Witcher seems rather consolized itself though, even though it was a PC exclusive. It has a lot of UI and combat mechanics that appear to be optimized for a controller rather than a mouse and keyboard.

Rather than derail this thread, look up the 'I don't get all the rage for Dragon Age 2' thread. There's extremely lengthy discussions in there about the DA2 suckfest and the future of DA3. Might be some discussion on ME3 in there too, I can't recall. BW/EA have already said they want to make the ME franchise more accessible, so it'll be dumbed down console junk. The days of deep, story driven RPGs from Bioware are behind them.

Great news. The Witcher 2 was one of the best games I've played. Only surpassed by DA:O.

2014 is a long time from now - but I suppose we wouldn't want them to rush it. Have to admit that I had hoped for 2013 though.

Considering how many loose ends TW2 left it's a bit cruel having to wait so long. 😀

Loooooove Witcher 2. I particularly enjoyed getting high and wandering around eerie forests with little gremlin dudes jumping up out of the ground at me. Very trippy.

1) The Witcher 2 was brilliant and superior to the first game in every single way.

2) Skyrim is better than Oblivion. Apart from the UI which does suck but will be fixed by a mod within a few days of the dev kit being released. The gameplay itself is great.

3) Harsh to say Bioware is on the decline. They messed up one game. Every company is entitled to the occasional failure. Plus Dragon Age 2 was hardly terrible... just not quite up to their usual standard. I still liked it.

WTF, 2014? Are they building a new engine again? Why can't it be 2013. I hope they'll at least release expansion packs or large DLCs for Witcher 2. I want moar!

Err... you mean The Witcher 2, right? TW2 was the game they developed with Xbox 360 in mind. TW1, on the other hand, is one of the *least* consolized RPGs I've ever played. The UI, the combat, and the graphics would simply not be possible in a console environment. It would have to be completely overhauled.

Dragon Age 2 suffered enormous pressure from EA, forcing Bioware to rush out a mediocre title in only a year. Bioware will continue to be on a decline as long as EA is their publisher... which, looking at how Mass Effect 3 is shaping up, seems to be the case. (Hasn't it pretty much been confirmed as a corridor shooter now?)

I doubt they're working on a new engine. They just want to make a quality game is all.

It takes more than a year to make a quality game, we aren't talking about Call of Duty or Halo here.

Yup. CDP Red seems to have hit the sweet spot in terms of quality/development time. They deliver high quality games without tormenting us with blizzard or valve-time (aka when it's done.)

While not surprising, it's good that they confirmed they are working on it. The new IP should be interesting.

I am less surprised THAT they are working on it and more happy that they are taking their time and not trying to slam it out in a year.
