The Wire DVDs for $73.87 seasons 1 - 4

I found this after doing a google search for: "the wire" dvd.
It came up as a sidebar ad.
They say that these are international versions in English that are region free.

I am suspicious about their legality or reliability.
Has anyone ordered from the-web-studio? Are they legitimate?


If your suspicion is they are pirated DVDs, then it would be better to edit the title or ask the mods to lock. Remember the saying. If it's to good to be true..................

Well, odds are they are pirated DVDs from China. They definitely won't be official studio DVDs.

A quick scan of Amazon (and Amazon UK) failed to turn up any 'Complete Collection' that looks like the product pictured. The photo on the cover essentially copies the cover of the first season box set. The box in the photo is too thin as well (each season comprises a box of that size). The price is less than half what Amazon charges...

Another clue is 'international... region free'. That usually means some Chinese bootleg. Unless it's pr0n or something fairly specialised, most legitimate dvds are going to have a region code.

This is a superb series, perhaps the best on telly, but save yourself some pennies and cut out the middleman if you aren't going to pay HBO for authentic discs.

My suspicion is that these are boot leg dvds.

They say they are located in Seattle but then in their FAQ they say:
"Q: How long will shipping take?

A: Shipping time is a little longer with the international release. I'm sure you will agree that the savings is worth the wait. Items will be delivered to you via Express Mail Service (EMS) then USPS flat rate and will take from 7 days to 3 weeks from the time the item leaves the warehouse. Ships direct from the factory new in the box, so you never get any used/open/broken merchandise."

They also say:
"Although the sets are foreign manufactured, the sets are brand new, licensed, legal, factory made high quality DVD's. We do not tolerate or sell pirated or bootleg versions.
"

But then they say:
"Q: Why do the DVDs I just bought skip and jump?

A: Older DVD players may experience skipping or freezing while playing some of the discs."
