The Wii, component cables, and an HD Ready TV

I plan on getting a Wii on launch and component cables to hook up to my Panasonic 27" CT27HL14

This tv is HD-Ready or HD Compatible.. not sure of all of the specs. This is the manual for it

my only question is..will i be able to run the Wii with component cables and have it look better than S-Video?

Thanks!
jason

wii does not support HD, you dont need an hdtv, also the graphics are weak, I wouldnt bother with the wii if you are a graphics guy.

No, they changed em this time around.

And randay-Wii supports 480p, which looks a heck of a lot better than 480i. There's nothing wrong with wanting a wii and wanting to get the best graphics it can output.

Dude, just shut up already and go cry in the corner about how you won't be playing PS3 for another year.

I dont care as much about the graphics as I really like the wii remote. I tested it out at gamestop yesterday and I look forward to playing Zelda.

rumor has it that the graphics are much better with the component cables.

I noticed one hell of a difference using component vs. composite with the GC. But I've heard that there isn't much difference between component vs. svideo on the GC. So if you got component, go for it!

Going from svideo to component + 480p, I noticed a hell of a difference on my GC.

Please tell me you're on Sony's payroll. If not, your trolling for a PS3 system that you won't profit from is just pathetic.

As to the orignial question, it was answered in the first reply correctly.

I did not mention the PS3 at all. All I did was state my opinions based on facts. I really don't give a sh!t if all the fanboys get thier panties in a bunch because they know I don't like Nintendo. I'm providing advice for the OP and all you guys are doing is flaming me, good job.

Anyway OP, it will probably look marginally better with component then s-video. You still don't really need an HDTV for the Wii though, unless you have some other source to provide the HD signal.

ps. For all the wii fanboys; Gabe from PA said himself that the graphics for Zelda looks worse then the graphics on the GC. Did I lie? nope. Find something worthwhile to flame me on please, k thanks.

The game doesn't look very good. I don?t just mean it doesn?t look like Gears of War either, I mean it doesn?t even look good for a GC game and let?s be honest here that?s what we?re talking about. I?ve seen beautiful games on the Cube. Crystal Chronicles, Wind Waker and Resident Evil 4 were all incredible looking games. Twilight Princess can?t really compare to any of them. So he?s right about that, what he?s wrong about is everything else.
...
Here?s everything you need to know about Twilight Princess:

-Playing Zelda with the Wii controller is super fun. -The game play is a blast. -The story is great. -You?ll never even think about the graphics while you?re playing it.

He wasn't asking for opinions on the Wii, he was asking if it would look better if he switched to component cables and 480p, and the answer is "yes". You coming in and insulting the Wii without answering the question is exactly what I said it is... trolling. If you don't want to get flamed, grow up.

I don't usually even notice a person's username, but in every single xbox or wii thread I see the system insulted, usually accompanied with inaccurate information, and I know you've arrived. In every PS3 thread, you're defending any attack against the PS3. We all know how you feel by now, you can just stop.

Yes.

The Wii doesn't have S-video out does it? So will they be selling a special cable with composite audio and S-video? I haven't see anything like that. Never actually used S-video before to be honest.

AFAIK, there's one proprietary video cable port on the back of the Wii, and it accomodates multiple formats depending on which cable you have plugged in.
