The whole world hates Germaine Greer, especially her own nation, sad really...

No matter what happens, there will ALWAYS be someone out there complaining. You can't make the world happy, not even for one second.

germaine greer would like everyone to be miserable whinging bitches, every second of the day, just like she is 😛 They'd get bonus points for bashing their own nation every time they opened their mouths to the press too...

Seems to me like a somewhat pathetic, shrivelled up old witch-y chance for her to get back in news to me 😉

She goes too far, but she isn't entirely wrong either. Irwin's tv "act" at least was closer to Benny Hill than a real show about nature.

He was a bit of a clown, but there was a point & purpose to it all, and he used his fame to beneficial effect conservation-wise. She's a total bitch about him, like she is about almost everything Australian, and especially in this case there's no need for it, she could hardly have been less tactful about it if she'd tried (i suspect she did try)...

Someone take her away, we don't want her here either.

Maybe the yanks would like her 😉

Someone should take her. She's a waste of time. I have yet to see the miserable old trout smile. Ever.

Irwin understood his audience. There's nothing wrong with edutainment.

Ms Greer said Mr Irwin had not treated animals with the respect they deserved.

"He would tell you how dangerous they were and he would proceed to intrude on their space and humiliate really - treat them with massive insensitivity," she said.

I have to agree with her here, I grew up watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and was disgusted to learn Marlin Perkins staged many of the episodes.

Yeah, you could really see the hurt and embarrassed look on the animals faces after Steve left them.

Sure it could seem brutal at times when a half dozen people jump on a croc's back to subdue it, but they explained on the show why they had to capture them that way. Crocodiles can't handle any kind of sedatives and are easily killed by them, so the only way they can capture and subdue them is to physically immobilize them.

Steve was a genuine conservationist who really did a lot for animal rights and conservation, much of that didn't end up on his show since it isn't that entertaining. He did far more animals than the typical 'activist' who cuts a $100 check to PETA or Greenpeace and thinks that they saving the world.

I've seen people like you before and you know what I think....etc, etc.

Sorry, I don't know what you think, or mean. I was only making a small joke about ATOT, because aren't we social commentators too ?
