No mention of "greatest rock drummer" in the vein of Moon, Bonham, Peart, Watts, etc., is complete without the addition of Ginger Baker. In fact, I would have to say he is the true forefather.
As far as the Who is concerned, they are not only pioneers of R&R, but along with the Kinks, they were major pioneers/influences for the movement that would become punk.
