It is easier to print money which is the course of action that makes the most sense with our government. Just don't expect them to up front about it, hell with these guys they could write a balanced budget amendment, claim credit for it, and then proceed to balance current and future budgets with the sole use of a printing press. Rigidly adhering to the law with no regard for its intent is a perk for most who find themselves with any power to hold over others.

I dont know what the big deal about an amendment. It will probably never be ratified anyway. Just voting on a constitutional balanced budget amendment means nothing without ratification by most of the states.
