One justice was still full of disgust. In a biting, sarcastic voice, Justice Antonin Scalia read his dissent from the bench. He denounced his colleagues for ?taking sides in the culture war.? He accused the court?s majority of having ?largely signed on to the so-called homosexual agenda.? Most Americans, Scalia warned, ?do not want persons who openly engage in homosexual conduct as partners in their business, as scout-masters for their children, as teachers in their children?s schools, or as boarders in their homes.? Scalia predicted that the court?s decision would cause ?a massive disruption of the current social order? by calling into question the government?s right to legislate morality. While noting the majority?s statement that the case did not involve gay marriage, Scalia scoffed, ?Do not believe it.?

repost

I don't think so conjur

talks about the same case....

The article talks about more than one case conjur, but either way, let's both read ATOT's thought's and/or opinions w/out calling repost :)

meh....it'll boil down to the same as any morality/religious thread.

A flamefest after about 25-30 posts.

Hmmm....fix popcorn and sit back and watch or go to bed....

I'll pick the latter tonight.

I love how SCARED conservatives/fundamentalist Christians/Republicans get just thinking about two guys having sex.

A good friend in the IRC channel I frequent put it best today:

"Sometimes, I wonder what people are afraid of. like, these clowns putting this effort into a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriages...are they concerned that some guy is gonna just wander up and marry them against their will? :p"

Heavens, no...we can't have THAT!

*shakes head in confusion* If people truly love each other, I don't see the problem with them expressing it through sex. I certainly don't think heterosexual adults are the only ones with a right to privacy, especially in regards to bedroom relations.

That's just me though...I'm weird like that.

I really don?t know why this is such a huge deal. People always say accept other for who they are and shrug off homosexuality. So what people want to get married, let them do it. It won?t affect you and they will live together/have sex even if you don't approve it. Anyone who is pissed off the courts are moving in to the direction of legalizing gay marriages should commit suicide right now, cause it will happen eventually. It did in Canada, and the feds are not going to appeal the decision all the way to the Supreme Court. Rather, they are doing a much more productive job by legalizing gay marriage.

Why do people give a sh!t who other people marry? Might as well be an argument over Interracial marriage, its the same thing.

More gay people means more women for the heteros.

I'm all for people being gay.

In fact, I wish every guy but me WAS gay. My personal stock price would go through the f*cking roof. I'd have to beat them off with a stick.

I have far too many other things to consider in my life to be worrying if a couple of guys want to pork each other. Who gives a flying fvck? All laws are artificial extensions of the community morality. We don't live in a democracy, thank God. If we did a lot of people would be being stoned or burned at the stake still.

I have no problem with it. The state should not discriminate (leave that to private groups, religions, etc.). I do wish it was called something other than marriage though. I really believe marriage is sacred between a man and a woman; and now there won't be any distinction between the two.
On a side note... I find it in poor taste that many of the insults on this forum involve calling someone or something gay.
