No surprise here ; what with all the stupid ipods and icrap floating around. RIP Walkman. I still remember playing out the yellow-water-proof version of the walkman back in the dayz.

I had one of the original larger ones and then upgraded to a really nice one back in 1986. It rocked.

Even had it's modern brother - the DiskMan.

That's the one. Remember the price?

I think they went for 130-140 dollars back then I think. They weren't cheap. The top of the line ones later went for 200 IIRC.

I also remember the rubberized yellow and black ones, those were pricey.

because some of us were alive when the walkman was the only way to listen to music while on the go. back when we had these things called cassettes.

I think I remember Sony had the patent on a portable cassette player or music player and only Sony made them for a long time. That or other companies simply didn't have the technology to make them truly portable. They were a very big deal in their time.
