The governor better be fucking dead. As a certified Trauma nurse in real life that type of stabbing trauma/injury is not very survivable even at a modern level 1 trauma center.

All the sheep are dead, so I'm happy. Nice detail with the woman from the first episode showing up as a zombie.

Is Judith (baby) actually dead? Or did the carrier just get bloodied randomly... Didn't see either of the sisters get killed. One of them walked off in a daze.

And holy shit, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) has a weird partial-British accent.

I believe Judith is dead. Showing dead mutilated adults on the show is okay. Showing dead mutilated babies is somehow not. They didn't want to cross that line with the majority of their audience. Instead they showed the carrier full of blood stains. I think they pussed out by not showing it. They have the mainstream to contend with.

I'm not sure The Gov is dead. It would be luck if she hit him with her hand shaking like that. Also, they never explained what he had to do with the survivalist's cabin. When he said "LIAR!" I specifically thought of the headless soldier with that written on his chest.

Answered, but again: the main woman who lead Rick to her zombie husband then off'd herself. In the suit jacket.

So half the squad (including Glen) is gone in a bus, Rick/Carl are wandering in the woods, Maggie and her sister are somewhere, and Daryl and Michonne each headed into their own directions as well? Next 4 or 5 episodes can be spent just getting them all back together 😛 Kinda thought another main character would get killed off, although I guess we won't know for sure until after the break.

Groups right now:
- Glen and random extras in bus.
- Darryl and Maggie's sister
- Tyrese and 4 kids
- Maggie, alcoholic medic, and Sasha
- Rick and sonny boy
- Governor's sister posse. Might be alive?

other than nobody able to shoot everybody crossing that open field either on foot or in vehicle should have been dead, except for the tank, that was a great episode.
This is the episode that we should've had as the finale last season. Scott Gimple (this year's show runner) has pretty much redeemed the debacle from last year. Now, we can get on with business.

I believe Judith is dead. Like someone else said, they aren't going to show a mutilated baby.
I really enjoyed this episode. You knew the Governor wasn't going to take the deal, but they made it seem that it was at least possible that his crew would stand down. Getting out of the prison will make things a lot more interesting. I was expecting something like this last season but better late than never.
Agreed, on all counts. I kind of wish they would've shown more indecision with the Governor's group. Most of them were peaceful, normal human beings. After Rick's plea regarding the children in the prison, many of them seriously ill, I would've thought there would've been more like Tara and Lily, seriously questioning if attacking other people is the right thing to do. I expect we'll see more of those two.

Megan getting bit by a walker that she dug up was pretty cool! (Mother not being within 100 ft of said child, is typical. You'd think parents would figure this out by now.)

Don't forget Carol, we might see her again.

In the comic series the baby/infant dies and instead of Hershell it is Tyrese that dies.

More musings on the location of the prison:
They first encountered it when doubling back north on I-85 "toward Newnan" and in this episode The Governor said it was "just North of Highway 34." That definitely puts it in Newnan, though the only similar place here is the Coweta County Jail just south of HWY-34 (Street View), a couple miles from I-85, and with plenty of commercial, residential, and urban structures all around (very little woods).

Woodbury is about an hour south with no Interstate route. They're far enough away that I'd never heard of the place. It would take a lot longer in a zombie apocalypse. The show never said they were close but I've seen a lot of people assuming they were.

I dont understand this show sometimes. The governor got hit in the arm he was swinging left and rights like a freakin boxer. Or why didn't michonne cut off the governors head or do something to totally finally kill him. Or why these last two seasons they never had a sniper on the roof. Or how daryl used a zombie body as a human shield against a bunch of dudes with rifles easily capable of penetrating human flesh. Or why they never dug any holes around the perimeter or built any other defenses. Or why wasn't rick immediately killed once the shooting started?

This was actually a pretty sweet episode though, despite the usual stuff. I kept thinking carol would make an appearance though.

"The usual stuff" is right. 🙂 That said, though, the producers tried to build a moat but couldn't due to quicksand. It's realistic that the characters couldn't either, though they should have at least mentioned the characters trying and encountering the same problem the real-life producers encountered.

If The Governor is still alive in February, the writers all need to be fired.

This show is based on a comic book. They may not have a choice in the matter.

Thanks a lot, jerk. :colbert:

Daryl dropping the grenade down the barrel of the tank was awesome, as well.

The fire instead o an explosion wasn't. 🙁 They didn't want to damage that collector's Vietnamese tank.

The only thing that really bothered me about this episode was:

Daryl: "You any good?"
Medic: "Yeah." *never hits a god damn thing*

Hell, nobody even fired when the governor pulled back for the swing and he must've had at least 4 guns aimed at him.

people that have a hardon for this show, and yet have not read the comics baffles me.
I do love this show. (Well, the end of Season 3, and the previous two episodes, notwithstanding.) I don't read the comics for a couple of reasons. One, I don't enjoy comic books. Ok, maybe just one reason.

It's not that baffling when you understand that some people just don't care for certain types of media.

Thank god Hershell is dead. I've been wanting him dead since he confronted Shane in the woods.
When did he confront Shane? Perhaps you are thinking of Dale, who died a couple of seasons ago. 🙄

Our protagonists did a pretty poor job of fortifying the prison. It would've been interesting to see what the Governor could've done, had he taken it over. 😉

Michonne wanted him to suffer, figuring he couldn't ultimately survive that kind of wound.

Yes, a corpse would not shield one from that kind of firepower. But it's acceptable in the Sliding Scale of Suspending Disbelief. The law of SSoSD basically states that the more awesome the act, the more acceptable it can be. And using a dead zombie with rebar sticking out of its head as a shield is pretty awesome!

After finding that dissected rat, and especially after Tyrese thinks that person killed Karen and David, I'm thinking more and more that we'll see Carol in the second half of the season. And it's very possible that we'll find out that she didn't actually kill those two.

Err he didn't ask that. He asked: "you good?" Referring not to his skill with a rifle but to his struggle with the bottle. Whether he's a marksman or a noob is somewhat irrelevant when a horde of invaders is rushing you.

Please no comics spoilers. I don't care if they're not the same. I don't read comics because I don't like the format. This is a thread about the show.

this was by far the best episode of the season simply because both herschel and the governor are dead. i had sworn that this was going to be the last episode of the show i ever watch, but this episode was damn good and makes me want to see where it goes from there now that the worst villian of all time is dead and that they are no longer in the prison and are now in survival mode once again. it reminds me of season 1 when it was interesting.

Ah, that makes sense, thanks.

I was annoyed with the first part of the episode because I assumed they were going to draw this out into a long, cliffhanger type of battle. How things went in the latter half was much, much better and I really enjoyed. Loved when the girls showed up with the guns; hilarious.

For some reason I don't think the baby is dead. I certainly do hope the Governor is dead. I mean he has to be at this point right? There is nowhere else to go with that character. Also very happy to have them all splintered up like that; should give us some interesting road shows in February.

Did anyone get Lost flashbacks when Rick was running around yelling for Carl? Kept expecting him to yell out Walt! 😀

The baby didn't show up in the In Memoriam montage during Talking Dead after the show, for what it's worth.
