Its truly amazing to me the level of disgust people show toward the Catholic Church for something like this

Normally I'd find comments like this incredible, but then your type isn't really known for making intelligent or pertinent comments.

You find it amazing that people can be disgusted by the ongoing rape of children as well as the subsequent protection of those that commit it.

Yep, another stellar addition to your post history. :disgust:

The Catholic Church is *responsible* for this ongoing rape of children. They still do nothing about the root cause; for their priests and nuns they stupidly "forbid to marry" - which their OWN bible condemns as "listening to demons"

@kage69: read the article below, it may help explain why many people are disgusted with the Catholic church:

i lived in Dublin in the early 70s. i knew about it then. Two of my friends were orphans that went through this system. They told horror stories that i never doubted.

No one wanted to believe

Thankfully, they will be believed now; however, it is appauling that the sexual abuse had to reach these levels before it was made public. Thank you for trying to keep this thread focused on the real issue.

I feel ashamed to be Irish, but the true shame lies firmly at the doors of the Catholic Church: I can think of few things more diabolic than systematic child abuse, permitted and condoned by a "Christian" church.

NO .. ABSOLUTELY NOT!
- There is no shame whatsoever in being Irish. When i lived there i could not believe the GRIP the Catholic Church had on these people. They are taught as BABIES to have respect and UNQUESTIONING *devotion* to this awful political edifice that masquerades as "christian"

Fortunately, the Catholic Church has lost another "jewel in its crown" as Irish people finally wake up there as they have in the rest of the world where this child abuse is tolerated. i remember having to go to the Isle of Man for contraceptives - they are that ass-backward in their false church teachings pushing around entire governments as they used to do in decades past.

Their pope is SO out of touch with reality.
