hi. please help out this noob here. there are a lot of dvd formats out tehre. DVD -R/RW +R, i am confused. can someone generalize what each one is?

i understand CDRW and CDR.
 
AfterDawn.com has enough info to keep you reading for hours. The forums there have extensive categories (seperate +r/-r forums as well) and the peeps have been really helpful for all of my burning related questions.
