Over on another forum that is frequented more by Europeans I saw a thread created on this news story linked above along with this long rant about how dumb Sarah Palin as well as all Americans are, we don't value education, etc. Then there is a long list of responses to the same tune, all believing this story is legitimate.

But it's not.

Do a google search on "Sarah Palin Czech Republic" and there is a whole host of results that come up eventually referencing this article.

And now I am feeding into the crap by linking to this website here, enhancing their exposure, earning them even more ad dollars.

Yes they have freedom of speech to say whatever they want, but come on, I would love to be able to slap these writers silly. There are a billion ways to make fun of Palin for stuff she has done, why damage this country internationally by writing satirical crap?

Sorry, just my rant today. Discuss.

So a bunch of "Europeans" are laughing at Americans for being stupid when they don't even realize they fell for an Onion type article? I wouldn't be worried about an occurrence like that in the slightest.

Ask why did people believe this? In part because it is believable. Why? Because much of this country is so fucking stupid it would seriously support people like Palin. Satirical news only works when the subject matter is absurd to begin with. Fix that, you obviate the satire.
