the validity of faith

proving is a scientific process or rather a statement to demonstrate by evidence the truth or existence of something. faith, however, requires strong personal belief in a religion, often based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof. if someone asked you a dumb question such as can u disprove the bible? all u have to ask is can u prove that god created earth in 6 days? can u prove that jesus was born of a virgin? this is even better, can u prove that jesus walked on water and so on...

it's really a contradiction of principles and ideas by asking that kind of question. proving and believing in faith doesn't go along hand in hand in a logical statement.

Why did you make this thread?

1) this has been argued ad nauseum between science freaks and religious nutballs that both know way more than anyone on these forums
2) this has been argued ad nauseum between science freaks and religious nutballs on this very forum
3) there's a thread about THIS VERY SUBJECT still on the first page

Please... for the love of god, /yourself. Thanks.

because there's nothing to argue about when the question itself is fundamentally flawed. and people are still dumb enough to troll for pages without consideration of the erroneous question posted in the first place.

Thank you very much. Your inability to see the exact same post on the main page is enlightening

exact same post? the similarity, perhaps, the one you see is in the nature of the debate, faith. but what i'm trying to argue here is the logic of the question posted by the op. if you still can't seem to understand the difference is, you must be rather "enlightened".

Then go make that dispute in the other thread. This doesn't need it's own post

Who cares? You aren't going to change anyone's mind on either side of the issue so until they start killing people in the name of their belief leave them be.

disprove it? No. If I did it would be seen by believers as a trick by Satan or even God himself. Like dino bones......

I would however submit the progression in the concept of Satan/ devil/ lucifer and the cultural influences on it as a proof that the "bible" is a pile of evolving horse sh!t..........

Yup.. that ends it. There is really nothing that's "arguable". You can't use logic to argue someone's faith, because faith wasn't induced by logic to begin with.

It is a waste of time arguing AGAINST religion to a religious person and visa versa...it has nothing to do with ignorance. As long as the religious people don't harm anyone WITH their religion or becuase of it I simply don't care what they believe or don't believe.

Here's some advice:

Post in the already-existing thread with your ideas. That's what the ENTIRE THREAD IS ABOUT. The thread isn't full of trolls, it's got some really great conversation. You're an idiot, and please die. Thanks.

i'm not implying it's u, but sometimes morons do jump in threads that they have no clue whatsoever. hence, the single smiley and no input.

It's not "no imput." It's probably a confused smiley because he's confused why you had to make your own special thread about the same issue that's well established in a thread of its own.

1. If I was going to argue a point, I would argue it in the other thread.

2. I read the other thread earlier today(yesterday technically) and found it quite interesting.

3. I did not participate in the other thread because arguing religion online is like trying to convert people to your party in P&N.

4. I put a confused smiley because I was confused as to why you would post this thread which could have easily been discussed in the other. Hence, all the input I needed to convey my feelings.

My faith has been shattered in that the OP hasn't been struck dead by God. Or a moderator, at least.

Your emoticon was easily and clearly understood. Concisely and somewhat profoundly posted.

oh my, you're NOT one of the morons either. and you are absolutely right in making such an accurate assumption as to another online person's decision in posting a single smiley. i respect that. anyway, i have stated it twice already. it's not the same issue here we're discussing. the question that rapidsnail posted is wrong and therefore, not as "well established" as you may claimed. i'm not questioning his faith as to any other people's in that thread. he asked, "What evidence do you have that you believe can disprove the Bible?" i simply laughed at that question when i first saw it. you know why?

read my post again.
