How many threads can there be with people not sure on their components for their box? Not enough I say. So this will be my first system(will be used mostly for office aps, WWW, DVD's/MP3's, light graphics work) what do you think?

MAXTOP 147KG2F-USB (3 Fans) - Front USB's - 6 front bays, 1 internal
Epox 8KHA+ (is this MB overkill for my system?)
XP+ 1600(retail)
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 40GB Ultra ATA/133 7200RPM
256MB DDR PC2100 (Crucial)
24x12x40 E-IDE CD-RW
LITE-ON 16X DVD
SONY 1.44MB 3.5" FDD
Creative Labs SBLive! 5.1
GF2 GTS-V 4X/2X 32MB DDR AGP
U.S. Robotics 56K PCI Modem w/Voice

The total is ~$700 shipped.

I already have a 3 piece speakers and monitor I am happy with, and I'll do something w/ keyboard and mouse.

I am thinking of putting win2k on it for stability and academic version of Office XP. How does it sound?

BTW, what is a good(somewhat cheap) TV Tuner card?

Bump and two questions...

1) SHould I get another PS or just stick with the one that is with the case? (I won't be OC'ing)
2) Should I worry about the SBLive! drivers conflicting with the system as they are known to do?

I would change the SB Live to a Santa Cruz or Phillips Acoutic OEM is fine. As for the PS 300watts will do fine as long as its AMD approved. But 350watts would be plenty. Also if your much of a gamer you might want to look into getting a GF3 Ti200 of some kind. Just incase you decide you want to play Unreal II when it comes.
