I took the postal exam and never heard anything from the Post Office about my results. I just figured I didn't score high enough or whatever.

Anyways....today I got a letter from them asking me if I was interested in any of three hourly positions.....so they could schedule an interview with me.

I took that test nearly nine years ago! :Q


 
Hey - I'd jump on it. It's not everday you get the chance to work for such a good company 🙂
 
Yea it takes a while for them to get back to you, depending on the position. My dad filled out an application about 2 years ago when he got laid off for a maintenance worker position. He didn't hear from them so he took another job - 10 months later he was laid off again, and low and behold, the post office got back to him about the maintenance worker position. (Took almost a year) I guess your position had a lot more competition for it than a maintenance worker.
 
odd, if memory serves, the test results was suppose to expire 6 years after you took it.
You realize what this means don't you? Either the positions you apply were such nice jobs that people rarely left their jobs, or you have one hellva of a crappy score and the queue finally got to you 🙂
If it's the former, I say go to that interview.
 
Yeah I thought they expire after 5 years or so.

Anyways...I have no intention of going to any interview. I would have to take a big pay cut.

If you are thinking about taking the job and waiting for a full time positon, a friend of mine had a hourly gig at the post office for 12 years before a full time job opened up. Do you get benefits with the job?
