After a couple weeks of research (and with your help) I've finalized my list of parts to get for my new PC. I have yet to find a case and power supply. I'll be ordering these tommorrow so if anyone has any feedback it would be much appreciated.
Ya see, the reason I count on you all is because every single computer tech I've talked to in my city are morons...and this was my first leap to AMD. Any cool peripherals you recommend I buy? Are there better deals somewhere else? Newegg was pretty competitive on pricewatch. I will be building this myself for it will be my second computer. The first one was a vanilla p4 1.8 on an asus p4t-e mobo. Looking forward to this I hope I don't destroy myself.

You have done your research well. :) As far as peripherals my suggestion to you would be to get the mx1000 logitech mouse. What kinda cpu cooler did you decide on? Nice build ought to be loads of fun.

I haven't chosen a CPU cooler yet. I was going to use the factory heatsink. But in this day and age maybe I should consider one. As for the mouse, I have the MX510 logi and it would be hard for me to part with it. :)

Usandthem: That's surprising because you're the first person that's had a negative thing to say about that board in all the time I've been researching.

I like the set up. But I would save some cash and go with the cheaper 3200 or the 3000 and OC. And I would save 10 bucks and go with the Mushkin Value RAM. But what you have will make a great system, you can just do the same for a little less.

You'll find a lot of negitive about the board, but then you will also find a lot of good. I have the board and really like it. I also have had the EPoX and like it as well (maybe a little better). But back to the MSI, they put a new chipset on it, it is still the 250 Ultra but it is manufactured in a new place (can't remember where) and it is a lot better, all the newwer ones have it. So you should be fine. Don't let anyone talk you out of the board it is a good one.

Your cpu is an OEM so you will not receive a HSF with it. Go with the zalman or the Swiftech mx6400 or the thermalright xp120 just make sure they are compat with your msi mobo. Njoy that machine ;)

That looks pretty good flymz. Go with your gut on the parts that you like... otherwise you will always be wondering if what you originally wanted would have been better anyway. Personally I think MSI is decent quality too.

boy, that's the most useless response / post i've seen in a couple days!

Make sure you get the RETAIL version of that processor, as it comes with the 3 year warranty, and HS/F
The stock heatsinks for these processors are very capable, and pretty quite too.

I'd replace the thermal pad / gunk with some AS5, and you'll be all set.

Also, that board is a notoriously POWER HUNGRY BEAST.

make sure you plan to purchase a HIGH QUALITY power supply that has a +12v raitng of at least 26a, I would recommend the Enermax Whisper II 460W:
http://www.directron.com/eg465pfmav13.html - $74.50

lastly, be sure and check out the forums dedicated to this board, as there are quite a few quirks that are important to know about:
