OK. Here's the deal:
I am getting a Dell Inspiron XPS Gen. 2 for college within the next month. Pentium 760, 1GB RAM, GeForce Go 6800 Ultra, all that nice stuff, but i need some ideas about what to do with my desktop. You can see it in my sig, some parts are a little old and I'd like to upgrade it, but i'm not sure i'll need to on account of the XPS i'm getting.
With my $2000 (canadian dollars) maximum budget, I've basically got 3 options:
1. Leave it how it is.
2. Get new Athlon 64 processor, new nf4 mobo with AGP so i can keep my 6800gt agp (save a lot of money), and a gig of new faster ram.
3. Get new Athlon 64 processor, new nf4 mobo with PCIe, a gig of new faster ram, and a new 6800gt PCIe or similar PCIe card.
I've already set aside the money and it works in harmony with my college budget, so that's not really an issue, although i'd like to have extra cash. Future-wise, would it be smarter and cheaper to get a PCIe mobo (dfi lanparty ultra-d for example) so i dont have to get a new one later after getting an agp one now?
I'd appreciate it if you'd respond with some comments and ideas for me. This is the site i will be ordering the parts from: http://ncix.com/ .
