The unofficial Det 27.10 peformance/stability general thoughts thread

Post how the 27.10s are doing for you!

So far i've only used them with Ghost Recon. Image quality for curtain stages seem better. Performance seems slightly better too. This is with a Gef 2 Pro.

Great for me on Ti500's...........small increases in performance and quality, no more infinite looping problem,(for me....although I hear some are still expieriencing it) and a few more "tweaks"........

27.10's are bad for me... I lost 100 in 3DMark2K1, the Vertex Shading test completely locked up Win2K the first time around and RTCW SP locks up every time I die.... of course the RTCW lockup occured with the 23.11's too. 🙁 But, I have yet to get the BSOD nv4_disp error w/ the new drivers... so that's a bonus. 🙂

edit: I have a PNY Verto GF3 Ti200

gainward gs gf3 ti 200

the 2710 wouldnt let Madden 2002 run. went back to old ones and madden worked.

oh well, ill keep waiting, i like madden too much.

I noticed a very incremental improvement in visual quality in DirectX applications.... small enough that one would need to take a screen shot and compare side by side to really notice anything though. Still, it's nice.

Shockingly enough, I've had no issues with the ever annoying nv4_disp infinite loop bug at all.... if it hasnt shown up this far then I doubt it will.
These are the only Det4's besides the 21.81 that I havent encountered the infinite loop bug. (21.83's were quite good also though)

I got a small performance drop all around in both DirectX and OpenGL applications without FSAA... but it's only about 2% so I don't really care.
I did actually get an equally small performance gain in 4X FSAA though, with no performance difference at all with 2X FSAA.

I havent noticed any compatibility issues thus far, but I've only tested a handful of applications.
As soon as I installed the new drivers NVMax stopped having any effect though. GeForce Tweak Utility stopped working too.
Luckily I managed to get NVMax 4.0 Alpha to work after reinstalling it.

i just played through Ghost Recon again and it was almost like night and day. The ground textures are even more lifelike now!

I get BSOD including infinite loop error in most drivers, the 27 and 2710 just lock up. Only the Windows XP defaults work for me without issue thus far.

I've never once had as many problems with a driver as the 27.10s gave me. I couldn't even make it through one day without the urge to nuke them from my system overcame me. 🙂 Lock, reboot, lock, reboot, lock, reboot (repeat as needed). Went back to the 23.11s, all is fine now. Of course, your mileage may vary.

FYI: Anyone with Medal of Honor may want to try the 23.11s if they haven't already. I went from the 23.10s to the 27.10s, neither ran MOA as smoothly as I'd like with maxxed settings, switched to 23.11 and it's running smooth. I will say that Tribes 2 seemed excellent with the 27.10s though, so I guess it all depends on what you need them for and if they are stable on your system.

27.10s gave me about a 100 pt increase on 3dmark over the 21.83's, work fine with all my games, and add the neato nView settings.

27.10's work fine with me, got rid of the infinite loop problem, and add some nice effects with nView. As for 3DMark...I didn't check. That 3 fps or so doesn't bug me all that much...

I got about a 500 point decrease in 3D Mark 2001 (from ~5600 to ~5100) when upgrading to the 27.10 drivers. I verified this by switching back to older drivers (23.11 and 21.83) then upgrading again. I'll keep my 500 points with older drivers for now. 😛
