The University Bookstore now have monopoly on Univ. logo goods.

At the beginning of the term, we were able to buy accessories, clothing and the such with the university logo on it at the convenience stores located in dining centers. Dorm residents gets a 50% discount on all merchandise in the convenience store and dining centers including accessories and clothes. The purchase can be charged to the meal plan.

You can get the same stuff at the University Bookstore at an outrageous price and they can't charge to student meal plan. The people at dining centers tells me that Bookstore(a private corporation located on campus) filed a complaint with the university which resulted in dining centers being ordered to not sell University logoed goods.

This is not in our interest, because if there's any fund left in the meal plan at end of the term, university will take it. I already hate the bookstore as it is.

This is fvcking Bookstore monopoly at the greatest

So let me get this straight... you can't charge clothing items to your MEAL plan anymore and you're complaining?

If you're worried about the leftover funds in the meal plan at the end of the year, do what everyone else does... drive home w/a few cases of soda/gatorade/whatever and be set for the summer.

Yeah, our bookstore owns complete rights to the school logo - kinda weird how it works. The school fire department used the logo and the bookstore almost sued them, haha.

Hehe, we have a 7-11 on campus that accepts the meal cards. People end up not eating and maxing out their meal cards on cigarettes. It's kind of funny.

actually thats kinda sad. no wait, it really is funny. hahahahha idiots .. 😀

The school doesn't want to get sued by the bookstore, esp if it is a private corporation. The bookstore doesn't care about your best interests. They just want to make money. Frankly, the school doesn't really care about your best interests either. Well, they do, when it is in their interests...

heh talk about bookstore monopolies... our bookstore makes agreements with professors, and put in a cd that the profs suggests, if you don't have the cd, then you can't do assignments in class, so you have to buy the book from bookstore.
we live in america, the country of monopolies...

Couldn't you buy the book online or from someone that had the course before you and burn the CD from one of your fellow students? I mean, I don't think they're going to be using SafeCD or the equivalent state of the art CD piracy protection 🙂

cd has an online student code, you need to go to the website, enter the code, get a user id/password and use it to submit your assignments.

Hey, I know a guy who used his coin collection to buy a pack of cigarettes. I also know numerous people who used their last 4 bucks (including change from their couches) in order to buy a pack of smokes.
