It would seem that there is a subconcious urge to chew, i see many a people chewing on pens/caps...
but i am curious...
When you are sucking on an entity, which I will call: "the dissolvable lozenger"...
A dissolvable lozenger is my term for any of the following: Candy Cane, Cough Drop, Root Beer Barrel, Butterscotch Drop, Peppermint Swirl, Certs, Velamints, Fireballs, Jawbreakers, something which when placed into the mouth, is kept there until it is dissolved.
but back to the question:
Up putting the "dissolvable lozenger" into your mouth...Immediately you notice the flavor and become distracted by it (yum or blech)... then eventually it becomes normal to the point where you just seem to forget about it, and focus on something else. Minutes later, CRUNCH... O crap... I just chewed my cough drop.
Does this happen to you? Do you think this is more common among Gum/Pen chewers?
Is this a hunger reflex, or merely a chewing reflex because somethign was placed in your mouth?
