The Ultimate "Tidbits" Thread!

I was sitting here perusing through a 2-month old copy of Game Informer while at work, and was reading a lot of little stuff here and there that I thought were interesting bits about upcoming games and such that people would like to know about. However, these things were typically buried in articles, or in little one-paragraph snippits.

Then I realized that I read these things all the time, magazine and web-based, and thought about making a simple "tidbits" thread to house all these little pieces of information that people would find interesting, but really weren't worth an entire thread on their own.

So, as a purely testing type of thread, I'll get us started, and we'll see where it goes. Post anything that you consider to be interesting, but not worthy of it's own thread. Something that you think your fellow gamers would like to know that you found out in the gaming world somewhere. Whenever you find something, post it!

I also encourage small discussions about anything, so be sure to use quotes so we'll know what you are referring to. I'll start, and will add more in other posts as I find stuff.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- I was reading about a neat little Playstation Network game called "Pain". No price determined yet, but it will feature multiple single and multiplayer modes. Your objective is to launch your character, via a stationary catapult, into various environments, causing as much mayhem as possible, judged by a score. Sounds pretty fun, and I hadn't heard of it before.

- SOCOM: Confrontation is due out later this year for the PS3, and is an online-only title like Warhawk. It's being developed by Slant Six, who did the Syphon Filter series. Features 32-player battles and features stuff like clan support and the like. Will be downloadable or puchasable like Warhawk. The reason I'm posting this is that I hadn't heard of this one, as it's seperate from SOCOM 4, which is being developed by the regular SCEA people that have done the past ones. I'm surprised at Sony's early move towards online-only titles.

- Something I didn't know, either, is that Nintendo puchased 80% of Monolith Software, makers of games like Xenosaga. Should mean some more RPG's heading towards the Wii and DS if you care.

- Bioware is currently developing a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG due out for the DS sometime next year. File this under the "Another Thing I Didn't Know" category.

I'd heard that and it might be the first Sonic game to strike my interest in a long time, although that's because of Bioware and not Sonic.
