I always liked the idea of killing people to free them. It makes such imminent sense, you know.

Nice piece of ultra left propoganda. Same thing can be done on opposite site by inteviewing thousands of women in northern Afganistan, who finally can live normal lives by not getting raped and beaten for even the small offense.

It just the matter of picking the stuff that suits your political agenda.

Oh yeah, to keep the spirit alive...
US IS TEH SUCK!!!

Just because you don't agree with doesn't make it propoganda or "disgusting journalism". It looks like fine investigative journalism to me unlike the crap that pass for news nowadays.

You know what I also find funny, everyone here just dismisses the video because it doesn't paint the USA in a particularly good light.

You can look away all you want living in denial, or if you perfer, get your news through Rose colored glasses through FoxNews. But no one denies it is true, those are real people you see on the video, real people who have known real suffering.

No, its not American journalism.

Sure, but it is still quite simply a piece of disgusting "journalism".

CkG

Oh, sorry, I thought American's had the monopoly on disgusting journalism too. Would certainly appear to be the case.

That people suffer, I do not deny. The use of such things and the protrail of them as an overwhelming majority of people is what I find disgusting. The "piece" is quite disgusting because it does not even come close to providing an accurate view of things. It takes one "side" and attempts to show it as the "only". It is very disgusting. I expect the libs here and the anti-Bush/America people here to eat this tripe up as that was it's intent.

Like Leon suggested - a person could cherry pick people and video clips to show the other extreme of this. That would also be disgusting "journalism" and YOU and the other "antis" would be all over it.

PS - I don't pay for TV so I don't get Fox News;)

Actually women still get beaten and raped for the smallest offense in Afghanistan.

You know you're as bad as some of the conservatives here on the forum. You won't make any friends demonizing the US, since the majority of ATers are comprised of Americans. Most of us Americans are unhappy about our administration is doing in the rest of the world. There are better ways to let your views known, like providing material for debate and not flamebait.

You're the same brainwashed people that followed Bush into Afghanistan and Iraq...and next into Syria and Iran. This report, while biased, is certainly more accurate than anything coming out the US media.

Sorry, but the job American's journalists have done since 9/11 is "disgusting". They've been nothing but propaganda agents for the US government.

Hey, I just flashed back to 3 months ago when I last looked into one of these threads and needed to verify though my computer that, indeed, it's 10/6/03.

Hardly hard hittng journalism, I don't think anyone would deny that. I look at it this way. Every country in any position of power will have committed some form of attrocity when viewed from the 3rd person. Sometimes people don't realize all the facts going into a decision, sometimes someone undeserving of power is given the power to make a wrong decision. A few problems arise unique to this age, media allows highly detailed accounting. The US, finding itself as arguably the sole super power in the world at this time, and the media is capable of displaying all mistakes instantly. The power of the media still deals with "old world" cultural issues, the same as was saw in the manipulations of Hitler or Stalin. The real question is not if we are all manipulated by heavily government controlled media, it's a question of how much. Both sides play the same games, in the end we all support someone's agenda that would not be described as altruistic even in the best light.

Well at least we have a new name for Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle and the rest for those who complained about neo-con.

According to the video they were known as the "crazies" during the first Bush administration.

You know what. I've read a lot of this stuff before. On sources other than the "main stream" US press. And on PBS Front Line. This info is not as shocking to some as it obviously is to the Bush folks on the forum.

Do yourselves a favor. Check out the numbers. Check out the dates.

Read the excerpts of Wolfowitz '91 "Defence Planning Guidance" on Front Line's site. It reads like current US history.

The video claims 72 "interventions" both direct and indirect since WWII. That's more than one per year. Governments overthrown. Innocent people murdered. People taught to at the US run "School of the Americas" to carry out some of them.

The video claimed, contrary to the US story, that rather than funding the Mujahadeen to resist the Soviets the US funded Afghanistan 6 months before the Soviet invasion.

I wouldn't know how to check such data. And this is only one of many claims made in the video. But someone has obviously gone to much trouble to put all the facts and figures together sans the US spin.

If anyone has facts and figures to refute the claims made please post them.

One example, the journalist in the video puts the question of where Hussein got their WMD to Feith at the US State Department and tells Feith after his denial they came from the US that the info in in the Library of Congress!

Whatever you may think the people who made this video got some access to high US officials. That alone gives them some credibility. I believe the person earlier in Part 2 was Richard Perle.

This video is how much of the world sees the US.

Watch the video. Refute the claims presented.

I love the part where Feith is cornered so badly the US "handler," a colonel, tells the journalist to stop tape.

Then the State Dept official he questions asks him if he's a Labor Party member. Before he can answer the US State Dept official is accusing him of being a Communist Party member.

Sounds very familiar.

Watch the video. Make up your own mind. But remember to check out the numbers. Check out the dates. Check out the claims. They are closer to the truth than what we've been fed.
