The Ultimate "Rebrand" Thread

We all know it's better to buy rebranded products since it's cheaper and easier to get.. so I was wondering if we could build a comprehensive list of all types of computer hardware (RAM, PSU, etc.) showing which products are just rebranded and renamed items.. it's easier to just have a thread with all these items in it so people can cross-reference them easily..

1. No, fortron is in a league higher than Aspire
2. X-connect is not rebranded, many people thought Powmax made them, but they don't.. although it doesn't mean they are incredibly good. I think they are better than Powmax, but based on what some have said, not the best out there. (I had one a while back with no probs)

Rosewill optical drives have been AOpen and their PSUs are mainly ATNG/Coolmax. Mad Dog PSUs are mostly TTGI. Sony opticals have been LiteOn, but their latest are Benq. Some Asus opticals are Pioneer. Most Antec PSUs are from ChannelWell. Most AOpen PSUs are from Fortron. Many of the cheapest packaged opticals are from BTC - avoid them...

I like this thread idea 🙂

I can't think of any rebranded items at the moment, though i do know DVD media somewhat.

I think it's fairly common for RAM to be rebranded OEM chips from one of these companies:

Samsung
Micron
Infineon
Hynix
Nanya

Crucial, I'm pretty sure uses Micron as one of their suppliers (Samsung might be one too), don't remember what the other RAM companies use.

As for cases, there seem to be a lot of companies that use some variation of the Dragon case, including Chenming, Chieftec, and Antec, as well as several other companies too.

---

There are quite a few companies that produce the "Metal Gear Box" HDD enclosure or some variation of it. PPA, IoCombo, and Cintre come to mind, but there're plenty of others too.

Crucial is a division of Micron - the same company. Crucial does buy some types of memory and other items that Micron doesn't make themselves.
