The Ultimate PC Safeguard?

Through my many years of computer experience, I have sought many avenues to keep my PC running just AS smoothly as when I first bought it. Not only do I want things running smoothly, but I was to prevent (minimize) the possibility of infection(virus, worms, trojans, key loggers). I've recently ran into a product known as DEEP FREEZE:

My thought process is that if I am going to spend thousands of dollars on a computer, I want it to be as protected and run as smooth for as long as possible, and I believe this can be achieved through Deep Freeze.

Please let me know what you think (i.e. if you have come to swear by a particular anti-virus/anti-spyware product, fill me in!)

I just want to hear some feedback about them, whether people actually buy them just to put on their gaming PC, and various pro's and con's.

Windows 7 use built in Firewall. Use Microsoft Secrurity Essentials as your anti virus and anti malware,, doesnt slow down the launch of stuff or system at all. No need for a firewall app and a virus app. Go with what microsoft gives and its lower on resources and a fastser responding system. gl The Windows built in Firewall gets all Stealth green @ Shields Up site.

I use Sandboxie but as long as you keep all of your software updated and surf wisely you should be fine.

Secunia PSI or an alternative that scans your installed applications and notifies of updates to those programs. Like Flash, Winamp, etc.

Since I'm no mind reader I can only respond to what you've posted in your thread.
It's hardly complicating your situation by listing two more options for securing your PC.

SandboxIE is very easy on system resources and easy to use.
Pros's = Keeps your system malware free (unless YOU go around it), for only € 29 Euros.
Con's = No fancy eye candy interface.

I use Windows firewall, Antivir, and a router.

But the best safeguard is safe browsing habits. Such as:

1. Never download toolbars
2. Use Adblock Plus
3. Never give your primary email address to a site you don't know.
4. Never click on links from IM users you don't know.

The last time I had a virus in my house was 6 months ago when my wife called me at work (she's learned though, he he.)

Ive used Centurion's "Drive Shield" for years. It keeps my machine protected to the exact cluster! It is the protection software used by the city library system as well as in schools and laboratory settings. Besides maintaining the configuration to the exact cluster, it takes insignificant CPU resource as well as permits trying software and settings as well as surfing any site confidently totally without risk (protection includes zero sector).
