A local news channel had a news spot the other day about hobbyists who create custom scale engine replicas. I think there was some kind of hobbyist show in town or something.
Anyway, these quarter scale engines were awesome. Fully operational engine replicas that are authentic down to little bitty CNC machined roller rockers and camshafts. One guy was demonstrating his one-of-a-kind blown Chevy V-8 that sounded just like a miniature dragster. The polished supercharger was fully functional, it alone took like 150 hours to make.
I found a couple companies on the web that sell operational replica engines. Check these out:
1997 Aurora IRL 32V DOHC V8
1940 Model 97 Offenhauser I-4 w/Hillborn Injection
Conley Precision 427ci V8 with or without supercharger
Last but not least, a one-of-a-kind, Dodge Viper V10 engine complete with 2-speed transmission and reverse.
And it can be yours for only $250,000 US.
