Dodge Viper SRT-10: 525 lb/ft torque for 3410lbs = 6.50 lbs per lb/ft of torque
Lamborghini Murcielago: 470 lb/ft torque for 3638lbs = 7.74 lbs per lb/ft of torque

Look at where those cars develop their peak torque, compared to this Lotus Exige. I believe the new Corvette Z06 develops peak torque at 3200rpm...

I don't care if I wouldn't fit in it, I'd still love to own it.

True having torque peak at the lower end of the RPM band is excellent for the relatively lazy. However, with light weight and a close ratio gearbox, it's the area under the power cuve that matters.

BTW, the C6 Z06 has a torque peak at 4800rpm, not quite as high as this Exige, but pretty high.

I read that it makes 383 ft\lbs at 1800rpm... more than the M5 does at peak!

Anyways, I'd wager dollars to donuts that the LS7 has more area under the curve than the Exige motor. The downside is, the LS7 is so light that sometimes it floats away. ;)

Seriously though, is the v6 used in the Exige a DOHC?

The LS7 definitely does, except when you factor in the weights of the vehicle, then the Exige absolutely crushes it. Of course, it should, considering the cost. :)

The v6 is a dohc.

A 2.6 liter Powertec RPA V8 would be ideal for this car, if they turbocharged it. :D

Here it is in the current normally aspirated spec:

2.6 Liter V8
383HP at 10,000 RPM
207 lb/ft torque at 6800 RPM
194 lbs dry weight

That thing weighs about 100lbs less than your typical 1.8 to 2.0 liter inline 4.

Just need to add a little Garrett GT25R dual cartridge ball bearing turbo to each bank, and it'd be just about perfect.

Actually, I think it's some cheesy kit car, powered by some lame, bottom of the line SUV engine. Ah yeah, the engine from a Ford Escape.
The Noble is a very good car. They couldn't get it to pass US emissions standards, so they decided to sell it as a kit instead. Actually, I like this because you can buy a pure sports car without all the added safety crap that adds cost, complexity and weight to the car. The Noble is as good or better than any production car made. It's just that you buy it in a kit form.

Sal
'i hear it doesn't have safety features required too

No ABS, no airbags.

It passes US emissions standards just fine, even California's (except for visual, of course).

You don't need any of this stuff either on a car that you track. What would be more important to me safety wise would be a full roll cage, racing seats and full harnesses with HANS.

Weight balance is crucial in the Exige/Elise

The Noble is infact not a kit car. It is powered by a Ford Duratec V6, but it is force fed by two fat turbo's. It's very fast and handles exceptionately well.. Like all British sports cars :D

Yeah, I did read the rest of the thread, but living in England they sorta don't need to break it up before you buy it. So they come fully built. Thats all.

Anyway, the ATOM owns all. :D

It is considered a kit car. The company did it that way to bypass the tough emissions and safety laws in North America. You can either buy the car in kit form or have it fully assembled. I believe that a fully assembled Noble will run you about $80K, which is a bargain IMO for what it is.

And in traditional Lotus style, it's ugly as dirt.
Who the fvck cares? It looks that way because it has to to function this way. I'd trade my Z06 for it in a heartbeat!

I knew about the Exige, but thought that it was just a hardtop version of the Elise. I can see now that it's much more than that. I want one and I want one now!!

Sal
No it doesn't. The exterior is a horrendous shape, aerodynamically speaking.
Uhhh, come back when you know what you're talking about.
Am I wrong?
