Might seem like a trivial thing, but (to me anyway) having the right pillow firmness MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!

For the longest time I was waking up with neck cramps, shoulder stiffness and dull headaches. Then while I was shopping the other day I noticed that there's recommendations on the pillows...

Extra Firm- Side Sleepers
Firm- Back Sleepers
Medium/Soft- Stomach Sleepers

I used to never pay attention to the recommendations, but I figured I've give the Extra Firm (since I'm a side-sleeper) a shot. Since having the pillow...No more neck cramps, shoulder stiffness is negligable and the headaches are gone.

Namuna, you sound like an infomercial for one of those "buckwheat" or "contour" pillows. :) You're right, though, the right pillow (and mattress) can make a big difference.

At the moments just prior to DreamLand, I find my head on the matress not on a pillow. :Q

I bought one of those big "U" shaped pillows a couple months ago, and would never use anything else again. It was fairly expensive (about $200 with one case), but it's perfect for me (side sleeper).

Ah, a safe thread for me!

I use a sobekawa, the kind of pillow that is filled with hulls from some kind of seed. They really work well no matter how you position yourself to sleep!

The only thing is. the hulls grind down to powder eventually.

Sweet dreams!

:)

edit: Bigsmooth, no I am the infomercial! :D

I'm surprised that a thread involving the bed hasn't spawned any sexual innuendos.

Well, I won't start anything innappropriate. My pillow isn't that bad, but I need one with better support IMHO.

I saw the same thing when I was with a friend at Linens n' Things about a year ago with a friend. He was shopping for stuff for his new apartment and I was just wandering around. Ended up spending $40 for a pillow and two jersey cloth pillow cases. I sleep in my back and side, so I bought a extra firm. Really comfy, and it solved my neck pains lickity split. They started when I put a down matress pad on my bed, but I wasn't willing to give that up.

Pretender,

You tempt me to make a sexual reference but instead I'll just post a humble joke....

There was a pillow and mattress manufacturing company that had a problem with staff...

Some of them just felt down all the time, and the rest were sleeping on the job.

Of course, now that I'm getting better sleep...Makes it THAT MUCH harder to get myself out of bed to get to work.

Just think about the fact that if you lose your job you wont be able to afford buying good pillows .. lol ...
