I made a post in another thread and thought maybe I should go with that idea.

Let’s just jump to the quick here.... If we are to have a Joe Biden presidency the United States will need to split into two nations. A western Whitehouse will need to be established. A western Whitehouse located within California simply because California already has nearly all of the resources necessary to be its own nation. Military alliances with need to be established, an entirely new federal government will need to be established. As for the people of America, they will need to choose and pick. No matter where you live, people will choose their alliance. You might live in Iowa yet your alliance may be with Joe Biden and United States West. State will need to choose by ballot which alliance that state and their people choose to align with. From the ground up, a new and separate national will rise. Which states align with which side will be determined. We can still be America and Americans, but a divided United States. Some states west and some states east. After states choose their alliance, people could migrate into the state of their preferred alliance. People... we have passed the point of no return. Half of the people have chosen Joe Biden as their president, and half for Donald Trump. Actually, Joe Biden got more votes and more of the people, but whatever. Hold on America and here we go.....

With 75 million voting for Joe Biden and 70 million people voting for Donald Trump, there is no way, obviously, that 75 million Americans will accept the unjust defeat of Joe Biden. And with 70 million having voted for Donald Trump, obviously there is no way that 70 million people will ever allow Joe Biden to be their president. And the real pisser.... the Donald Trump people control everything, well the everything that counts. And so..... NOW WHAT?

Well, the answer is obvious, split the United States into two sets of United States. An eastern Donald Trump United States and a western Joe Biden United States. A new and improved Whitehouse-West and the current older Whitehouse east. A new western United States with legitimately elected Joe Biden as the acting president. A new United States, states alliance to be determined, with a new federal government, a new military system, with new courts, an updated constitution, better rules and regulations. If your state chooses to align with Trump east, and your alliance is with Biden west, then simply move into one of those Joe Biden state. And, Vice versa for the Trump loyalists.

But let’s face it. The United States are so terribly divided, this us against them mentality as it were, that we will either destroy everything or we must do as any hopelessly divided couple would do, divorce. Otherwise, we will end up killing each other. So let’s just imagine what that new and improved western Whitehouse might look like? What type of government would we want? Which states might join or realign? And could two sets of United States exist without eventual war between the two?

Trump republicans will never accept Joe Biden as their president, especially when Donald Trump insists that they not. And Joe Biden Democrats will never accept the defeat of a justly legally elected Joe Biden. The divisions are only going to increase, the violence will only escalate. Face it America, we will never get along. They can’t stand us and we can’t stand them. So let’s do the inevitable and logical thing to do, take our newly elected president Joe Biden and start our new nation. The United States of American, WEST.

OP, this is what strong state governments and a less powerful federal government would help with.

If state governments are stronger, then people can just move to the state that best suits their views. They're free to move to whichever state they want.

I don't mind America and Trumpistan becoming 2 countries but you're off your meds if you think New York is gonna become Trumpistan.
 
Wow, so I am not the only crazy one that had been toying around with the idea of splitting the country 😳
My thought, however, considers that it would be done with the democrats in power, so meaning they call the shots.

My idea of the split was a little different:
The new USA keeps the blue parts of every state, meaning medium to large cities and their metro areas stay in the new USA. A crucial part here is that we keep the interstate highway network and major local roads as that will connect the blue hubs. Every highway will have a buffer zone of 1 mile to each side, so the highway will sit in the middle of a 2 mile wide band that will be blue. We would keep some farmland TBD.

The confederate trumpian states of the kkk keep most of the rural parts, and in reality, most of the map.
The new map would be almost all red, with a lot of blue dots interconnected by blue lines representing the highways. Fences around the highways and the cities to prevent entry from illegal trumpsters. Strong borders, right?
Access to the blue highways from the trumpian states only at dedicated crossing points, maybe around the bigger cities.
Citizens of the new USA receive a new passport, citizens of trumpistan renounce to their USA citizenship and get new trump empire citizenship.

Most of the military hardware and bases to be split (around 70% new USA / 30% trumpistan) but the new USA keeps ALL the nukes and nuclear capable planes and subs.
For decades, common sense has dictated that radical fundamentalist states should not have nukes, so that applies here also.
Giving less military hardware to trumpistan is not only a deterrent against them, it also helps them. The money generated by corn sales might not be enough to sustain a large high tech army, so having less equipment helps them to make sure they can maintain it.
In addition, maybe the big mac militia can step in and fill the role as soldiers in trumpistan "the right to bear arms and to an organized militia shall not be infringed"

New constitution for the new USA.
People would be relocated to their preferred place, and having blue hubs in the middle or red land makes it easier, as you can move rednecks 30 miles farther instead of relocating them half across the country.

I would expect most of the educated people would pick the new USA, while rednecks would go to the trumpian states of the kkk. Expected that most minorities would pick the new USA also.
Regardless of their choice, some people would be considered enemies of the state, and hence assigned to trumpistan. turtleconnell, hannity, rush, bongino, etc.
The Pentagon and DC stay in the new USA.

If a trumpster requires advanced medical care beyond the capabilities of their leading edge rural south dakota clinic, they could be treated at a hospital in a blue hub, provided that there is availability, and that trumpistan pays up front for the procedure. We are not going to give free health care to those illegal rednecks, right?

I have thought about this a bunch recently and think a related idea might be workable and useful. You don’t split the country officially or anything but you delegate a bunch of the powers of the federal government down to new regional entities. So you have a northeast group, a southeast group, a Midwest group., etc. In this case you have a situation where if the northeast wants Medicare for all it can do it while the southeast can bask in the glory of the free market. Stuff like that.

The main problem I see here though is an economic one. The southeast and Midwest are heavily dependent on money transferred to them by the northeast and west coast. If that gets cut off their economies will crater and I see no reason why they would accept an end to that.

We could call the regional entity's "states" and even let them elect there own leaders and make local laws.
It seems like I've seen this done somewhere before, I'll google it and get back to you.
 
Looking at the electoral map broken into counties, "Bidenland" would be mostly on the east coast and west coast in the urban areas, but "Trumpland" would end up being a vast swath in the middle of the country.

I think that I would want to live in "Trumpland". Sure, I'll have to pay more for healthcare, but the lower housing costs would probably make up for it. Plus I can get a big diesel truck and "roll coal" whenever I want. You guys will probably all eventually get government issued Chevy Bolts 🙂

You might change your tune when the economies of those areas collapse due to no longer getting fiscal transfers from the east and west coasts, haha. For example 20% of Kentucky’s GDP is money given to them from other states. How would they survive?

Again, this is the main issue. If we were going to split the country how would we account for the economic catastrophe that would happen in New Trumpistan when they are no longer propped up?
