Do any of you people read books? Or even read books that are remotely political? :disgust:

Michael Savage's books are much more attractive.

Al Franken's books are much more factual.

As in? I read two of Savage's books and I didn't agree with much of the stuff in them. But he is much more funnier than Al Frankenstein could ever be and has greater life experiences. As for facts, thats based on your opinion or mine. I haven't listened to Savage's radio show in a long time, probably a year, and I rarely if even listen to Al Frankenstein, so I can't comment on that.

Maybe I will check out Al Frinkin's book to just make sure.

I am entitled my own opinion, but not my own facts. Al Fraken does a very good job at backing up his facts and is a lot more honest than most political pundits.

Michael Savage's radio show kills Al Franken's...especially in the ratings. That's why I think right-wing radio has such a huge edge: You have to actually listen to what they're saying. Lefties don't have much to say and when they do they have little or no facts to back it up.

Where did I say that?
Heh, sorry you slid your post in while I was making mine. My comment was directed at raildogg and his statement:

Apparently he has no respect for the concept of empirical fact. ;)

I think part of the reason why right wing media has such high ratings is that it's comedic. I watch Bill O'reilly sometimes to just get in touch with those who are out of touch.

Left wing media (not sure exactly what it is because it's blurry in that right wingers call eveything left wing if it doesn't walk their narrow path) is boring. Al Franken is... meh.

michael savage is as sensational as WWE, yet not as charming. his facts are non-existant, and are moreso opinions that he uses to brainwash his listeners

Or perhaps you have never heard left wing radio or lack the brain power to properly draw the conclusions you do. You need to consider the variables.

No, the reason is because typically liberals do not use AM radio as a method to listen to news or talk shows. Just as I would wager liberal blogs kill right-wing blogs in page views.

It distresses me that books by political pundits consistently dominate the best seller lists. I have read/skimmed through a couple, left and right, and every single one has these faults:

-they preach solely to the faithful and are intellectually lazy in intellectually backing up their arguments.

-they seem to have a tendency to try to out-outrageous the books that come before. Comparing liberals to brown-shirted Nazis is now commonplace in these books.

-they are hurtful and spiteful, and generally demeaning of the American spirit they purport to promote.

Frankly I think pundits take away from serious discussion of the issues facing America. Time spent reading these books is wasted time.

That said, I have not read Franken's latest book (nor do I intend to).

It's about a 3 or 4 to 1 ratio liberal/conservative ratio on page views.

I find it tremendously ironic that anybody would be using this argument now. For twenty years, conservatives have dominated all forms of media, be it radio, television or print. Now, when some liberals are making headway in these markets (except television), the "Oh, this is all bad. Bad for the public. Shut it all down" argument is used.

Dont forget liberals already have many mainstream outlets. The MSM is a pretty liberal bunch so why go to AM radio to get your fix of liberal opinion when you can turn on the evening news?

I think that hurts liberal radio more than their lack of a sense of humor. And I dont care what people say, the only halfway decent thing Al Franken did was "Im good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me".

Maybe that skit was based on life experiences and that is how he gets through life.

Lets see now. liberals do not use AM radio as a method to listen to news or talk shows.

That explains a lot. Conservatives use radio a lot because they can actually be doing something else as they listen. More efficient, eh what.

Just as I would wager liberal blogs kill right-wing blogs in page views.

Conservatives get the facts, analyse, and opine. Not much need to mimic someone elses opinion, is there? Liberals read the blogs and pretend those are original thinking on their part. Conservatives are original thinkers and have little need for blogs.

That was too easy!

That or if they're going to switch to AM it's going to be to NPR.....

Just a thought ;)

And you actually have to listen to what they say on right-wing radio shows? All they do is rant all day long.
