Hi i would like to know is there is its true that once xp windows is setup on your comp, Msoft has the ability to check and see if your comp is running any cracked programs or even copied programs on your system, and we all know that many people run cracked software by Radium etc or even copied versions of other ms CDs is this true?? we are haveing a big debate about this subject and would like to know the finnal truth about this matter, we all know xp is so far un crakable( so far) but iam shore there are some real hard core people out there that would lov to show ms what thay can do...... time will tell i guess, but i would like to know at the moment just how much info gets back to ms??? thanks

Xp was cracked already. It should send no information about non-MS programs back to MS, and probably not even information about their own programs. If you want to "get back at them," stop using their software.

I don't support piracy but that "uncrackable" line really makes me laugh everytime I hear it. Then I think of the new windows expliots out there ( watch out don't press that back button..hehe...) and then I think about all the pirated versions of XP being sold in Asian countries street markets for about $2-6 a pop. !

If you dont know that a copyright protection has been cracked, assume it is. There are plenty of cheap asses out there that will not pay for software and then try to lie about how its the right thing to do.

There is debate as to whether this would be legal in the US. Chances are that no, they do not monitor anything about your system once it is activated.

Just to let you know XP got cracked around RC3 and when the final hit the streets there were cracks for it floating around in cyber space. Anything built by man can be brought down by another man. It just takes time and patience and desire that's all.

Did anyone from MS ever claim that WPA was "uncrackable"?
I never heard anything to that effect. Just wondering.

I heard that the XP crack was removed from the internet when XP was released and is no longer available. But with hack/crackers they usually find a way to distribute their dirty work.

And about 10% of those cracks are actually cracks. The other 90%....well..... you don't want those.

The only thing MS cares about is that your XP is legit, and that you are running only on one system. It monitors hardware changes when you reactivate, and if a drastic hardware change occurs they will require you to phone home for reactivation. Its a painless procedure that takes about 5 minutes when you do. If your XP is legit you have nothing to sweat.

If you did have a system that could monitor all software changes and report back through TCP/IP on millions of unique systems well you would be selling that to companies. MS can not currently pull it off. It would be one hell of a system though.

If I remember correctly, Even if they did monitor what you have on your machine and found something illegal, they legally can't do a damn thing about it as it would be an invasion of privacy thing. Pretty sure, but don't quote me on that..:p

Bah, the only thing M$ cares about is Market Share. Personally I think they promote the cracking/distribution of their software. (ofcourse I have no evidence or anything, just my own conspiracy theory ;) ) (BTW: no my copies aren't cracks. For a mere $25 through the UW system, I might as well pay)

...I wonder if Lindows will be any good.

A friend of mine(?) heard about a web site that supposedly had a crack for XP but could not find it. It was gone and the rumor was MS helped remove it from the web site. Don't know for sure. I guess some of you are more up to date about those things than I am. I prefer to be legal.

Feigned stupidity, although MS's best product until now, won't be ready for world domination until SP2 is released for it.... :)

The only way MS can obtain world domination is if the majority of computer users choose to buy or use Windows. No other way. All those who continue to buy a certain product over another product are guilty of creating any world domination.

If there is no better option then tough luck to those who are unhappy about it.
